What a wonderful woman Dolly Parton was. Her passion for helping children discover the joy of books and reading has left an incredible legacy. 📚❤️

Through her Imagination Library, millions of books have found their way into the hands and homes of children — helping to nurture a love of stories from the very beginning.

As a Reading Doctor, I know just how powerful it can be when a child discovers that books are for them. What a wonderful gift to have given to so many children. ❤️📖

One of the best things about being a Reading Doctor is hearing what my pupils enjoy about their lessons! 💛

So, rather than me telling you, I thought I’d let two of my pupils explain for themselves. 😊

Reading support doesn’t have to feel like more schoolwork. My aim is to build confidence, develop reading skills and, just as importantly, help children discover that reading can actually be enjoyable.

Here’s what these two had to say about their Reading Doctor lessons… 🎥

If you’d like to find out more about how I can support your child, feel free to drop me a message.

Did you know that play is one of the most effective ways children learn?

Games encourage children to:
⭐ Take risks without fear of getting things wrong
⭐ Practise skills through repetition
⭐ Build confidence
⭐ Stay motivated

The best learning often doesn't feel like learning at all.

🎙️ Exciting news!

I'll be joining BBC Hereford & Worcester tomorrow (Friday) at 9.30am to share my thoughts on the government's plans to help children develop a love of reading.

As a former primary school teacher and now a specialist literacy tutor with The Reading Doctor, I'm passionate about helping children become confident, enthusiastic readers. I'm looking forward to discussing why fostering a love of reading matters and what can make the biggest difference.

If you're free, I'd love for you to tune in!

Why multisensory learning? 🧠

Children don't all learn in the same way. For many pupils, particularly those with dyslexia or other learning differences, simply seeing information on a page isn't enough for it to stick.

That's why my lessons are packed with practical, multisensory activities. Rather than just looking at a letter or word, children might build it, trace it, say it, hear it, write it and use it in different ways. Engaging multiple senses helps create stronger memory pathways, making learning more memorable and enjoyable.

Whether we're developing phonics, reading, spelling or handwriting skills, my aim is always to make learning as accessible, engaging and effective as possible.

💙 Because children learn best when they can see, touch, hear and do.
