Reception and Year One enjoyed a wonderful trip to Great Malvern this week.
They went by train, under the hills, and up into town on foot. They visited the Police Station and considered how they can get help if there is an emergency. As part of the Summer reading challenge they visited the beautiful Malvern Library. There they had time to explore the books in the childrenโ€™s library before settling down to hear some new books at storytime, under the watchful eye of Moel Bryn, the dragon!
The trail around Malvern saw us searching out signs and symbols to help their map reading skills, spotting fire hydrants to help the fire fighters, noting services such as the bank, the post office, the cafe and supermarket. They observed fine decorative Victorian architecture and noted Victorian street names.
Of course, they couldnโ€™t visit town without a picnic in the park and some adventurous play in the brilliant wooden play area!
And as a very special afternoon treat, they visited Alekzandra Malvern Bakehouse where they enjoyed a hot chocolate, and some delicious bakery treats! In all, the children walked a few miles, saw many sights, chatted and laughed.

On Thursday evening, the Theatre was transformed into a vibrant festival tent, complete with lights and bunting, for one of our musical highlights of the term, ElmsFest!

The evening began with fantastic group performances from our strings, handbells, ukuleles and our Year 7 ensembles, who entertained the audience with their own renditions of Forever Young and Let It Be.

We then moved on to an exciting showcase of solo and group performances, featuring a fantastic set from AJโ€™s Band, The Blistery Fingers, and our very own school rock band, who delivered an epic performance of Kashmir by Led Zeppelin!

The entire evening was bursting with colour, fun and energy, and filled with wonderfully confident performances from our talented pupils. A huge well done to everyone involved, and thank you to the team who worked so hard behind the scenes to make ElmsFest such a memorable event!

As part of the leaversโ€™ programme, the Year 8s took part in a charity day.

The head boy and girl, along with Mr Lyddon, spent the morning at Colwall Food Bank, sorting donations, stocking supplies and packaging food boxes for clients to receive later in the day. They asked plenty of pertinent questions and most importantly, gained an appreciation of the hardship that people can face in life.

The whole year group also took part in a charity fundraising car wash and they also went to visit a couple of local care homes and took on some jobs.

A very worthwhile day and we are really proud of their efforts.

This July, Mr Lyddon and Mimi Lyddon are taking on the Three Peaks challenge to raise money for two incredible charities that mean an awful lot to them.

The two charities they have chosen to support are the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, in memory of Daisy and Mimiโ€™s grandfather, and the MS Society, as a tribute to Mimiโ€™s grandmother, Baba.

This challenge will push them far beyond their comfort zone, both physically and mentally and they are asking for your help and support.

If youโ€™re in a position where you are able to donate, no matter how small, you will be helping to fund research, support families, and change lives.

Thank you so much in advance for your support!

The school enjoyed a very special addition to the calendar yesterday with the inaugural Exhibition Day.

The children were excited to be able to invite their parents into their learning environment to see what they get up to in the classroom and in all other areas of the school too. Parents were treated to the wonderful production of Treasure Island and some brilliant musical pieces, whilst being surrounded by a beautiful art exhibition that was truly inspiring.

After a lovely social lunch, the school then braved the weather for House Athletics. The pupils, staff and parents all embodied our school values and they didnโ€™t let a few raindrops dampen their spirits. There were some excellent performances and the afternoon was finished with the chaos of the whole house relay!

Congratulations to Eira EB and Charlie-Anne B who were awarded the Victrix Ludorum and to Jack E and Toby M the Victor Ludorum.

Well done to the Trojans who came away with the overall win ๐Ÿ† ๐Ÿ”ด

One of the highlights of Exhibition Day at Elms School was the Year 3 and Year 4 production of Treasure Island the Musical, a lively and entertaining adaptation of the classic adventure story.

From the opening moments, the young cast transported the audience into a world of pirates, hidden treasure and high-seas adventure. The production was filled with energy, humour and confidence, showcasing the remarkable talent of the pupils involved.

What was most impressive, however, was the commitment shown by every member of the cast. Whether singing, acting, dancing or supporting the action as part of the ensemble, each pupil contributed to the success of the production. Their teamwork and enthusiasm were evident throughout, reflecting the hard work that had gone into rehearsals.

Treasure Island the Musical was a fitting showcase of the creativity, confidence and talent of Elms pupils. Congratulations to all the performers and the staff involved, for helping to create such a memorable and enjoyable production. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the schools first Exhibition Day and a performance that will be remembered with great affection.
