We recently headed over to Hopton Woods in the Shropshire Hills for a classic cross-country loop. The challenging climbs were more than worth it, with some of the best downhill sections we’ve ridden. Even better - it’s just over an hour from Malvern College!

The Forest of Dean is home to some of the best mountain bike trails in the UK. An afternoon of riding here is enough to get the adrenaline going after hard work at school! Our bikers had a great day on the bikes this Sunday, riding some brilliant downhill and enjoyed a well-earned hot drink at the cafe afterward!

A day spent at Climbing 270 in Gloucester is always a day well spent, especially when the sun is shining, and we can use the massive outdoor wall!
It's been great seeing a handful of new faces being welcomed into Outdoor Education's Saturday Club, there's lots more warm-weather activities for them to look forward to as we move further into Summer!

Our DofE Gold walkers and bikers spent the last week of their Easter holiday travelling along the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain. Carrying everything they needed on their backs and bikes, they enjoyed a week of warm weather, great local food and expeditioning in an incredible setting. The walkers followed the stunning coastal path, while the cyclists headed inland to ride through the mountains between Santander and Bilbao.
We are looking forward to visiting Spain again next year with a new group of pupils!

We have kick-started the Summer term with a giant paddleboard session on the beautiful River Avon! At the foot of Bredon Hill and with views of the Malverns, the Saturday club pupils enjoyed some time on (and in) the water to cool off in the hot weather!

Last weekend, we made the most of the sun and spent the day at FlyUp 417 in Gloucester. We managed many laps of the trails, had pizza at the cafe for lunch, got three punctures, and almost escaped the afternoon rain. It was great to try the new trails that had been built since we last visited!

This weekend, the Nordic 26 expedition team had their final training weekend in South Wales. Being a personal development expedition, the team had to manage all elements of the experience, including all planning, purchasing, cooking, kit prep, and much more, even before they got on their bikes. The team did brilliantly well, working on their cycling and kayaking. On Sunday, they cycled back from Talybont-on-Usk, with an ascent of roughly 1300m - quite a feat for a team of young cyclists. Next stop, the real thing in July!

Our Outdoor Education Saturday Club has been spending a lot of time climbing across various walls this term, including Climbing 270, Redpoint, and Green Spider, providing our pupils with the opportunity to assess their skills on a wide range of routes and styles. We now have a sizable group of competent climbers working towards individual and group challenges on the wall.

A sunny and slightly warmer mountain bike ride on Bredon Hill this past weekend. A brilliant cross‑country route with hidden trails, tough climbs, and plenty of mud — a ride on Bredon never disappoints!
