NEWS // 🏃♂️🏅 Malvernians at the London Marathon 🏅🏃♀️
On Sunday 26 April, as records fell on the streets of London, the Malvernian community was proudly cheering on six Malvernians who took on the iconic 26.2 miles with remarkable determination.
Leading the OM charge was Rose Harvey (6.08–10), who delivered a phenomenal run to finish in 2:26:14, placing ninth female overall and second British female, and securing her place in the top 10 elite runners.
Also flying the OM flag were:
🌟 Katie Sloane (4.02–07) – 2:46:51
🌟 Ellie Calderwood (6.14–19) – 4:12:00
🌟 Lara Vafiadis (8.03–06) – 6:08:59
🌟 Mary Needham (EH.18–23), running alongside her father Rupert Needham, HouseM of No.2 – 6:22:43
Each runner performed superbly, all while raising thousands of pounds for charities including Cardiomyopathy UK, Muscular Dystrophy UK, Children with Cancer UK, Shelter and Prostate Cancer UK.
Whether running for family, friends or wider causes, our OM runners truly embodied the Malvern Qualities of ambition, resilience and kindness.
Congratulations to all involved — a truly inspiring achievement in every sense and we are so proud of you👏

We are incredibly saddened to hear the news that Malvern St James could be closing at the end of this academic year.
We understand how unsettling this will be for parents and their children, and how devastating this will be for the large number of people whose employment will be put at risk. As a fellow independent school in Malvern, we understand first-hand the pressures facing our industry, and our thoughts are with the many staff, parents and pupils.
When families are ready, we are here to help in any way we can at the College and The Downs Malvern. Kelly, Lauren and the Admissions Team are here to answer any questions you may have and support families through this difficult time.
You are warmly invited to drop in for an informal conversation about Prep or Senior school this Saturday (2–4pm) at Malvern College. A chance to meet our staff and explore your options.

It was a pleasure to welcome Ms Virginia Liao, Principal (Chinese) of our Malvern College Preschools in Hong Kong to Malvern College this week.
While visiting the UK, Ms Liao took the opportunity to visit the College to meet with colleagues.
She enjoyed exploring the campus in glorious spring sunshine, taking in our outdoor sports facilities, theatre, swimming pool and newly renovated Music School.
Our new Malvernian Society intern, Pia Flynn-Jones (6.18-22), was delighted to give Ms Liao a tour of her former boarding house, from her very first FY form ("like a non-stop sleepover!") through to her Sixth Form study bedroom.
As Principal of our Preschools in Hong Kong, Ms Liao was especially interested to hear about the planned relocation of The Downs Malvern in September 2027 and the exciting opportunities it will bring.
A huge thank you to Ms Liao for visiting and for sharing such thoughtful ideas on how the Malvern College Family of Schools

Our Leadership Conference in Vienna is off to a brilliant start with many productive and constructive contributions from across our Family of Schools and conversations that are already sparking new ideas.
The highlight of the day was a compelling keynote from Kester Brewin on the future of employability, which was thought-provoking, timely, and gave us all plenty to consider. With the landscape of work evolving faster than ever, it's conversations like these that remind us why gathering together matters.

Next week, leaders from across the Malvern College Family of Schools are gathering for our Leadership Conference, exploring the trends shaping education today and the values that unite our global community.
From embedding Malvern Qualities into everyday school life, to evolving Malvern Pathways for the next generation, it's the perfect time to connect, collaborate, and grow together.
We are also excited to be collaborating with the Malvernian Society as we bring together our global alumni community as part of this event. We look forward to seeing everyone next week!

Earlier this week, we announced that Malvern College São Paulo will open in the 2027/2028 academic year, and we are so pleased to be able to share some photos from the official announcement event at the British Consulate-General in São Paulo, Brazil! 🎉
It was a historic moment, marking a first for British education in South America, and these images capture the excitement perfectly.
