A quiet day for us today, but we still managed to keep busy! We spent the morning planting the pea plants that we have grown from seeds into the pots outside and then went for a walk to see the boats and have a play in the park before the rain started to come down!

Today we went to Toddler gymnastics! We had a great time burning some energy whilst it was raining outside! We practised our running, jumping, swinging and balancing skills which are all important to give us strength as we grow. After gymnastics we stopped at a cafe on the way home for snack and lots of people commented on how we sat nicely at the table! ❤️ We were tired after lunch, so we had some quiet time reading books together and then we made some music with the musical instruments. We thought about how songs would sound if they were happy, sad and angry!

Yesterday morning we went to playgroup. We go every week so we can build friendships with other children and practise our sharing and negotiation skills. This week we enjoyed making crowns at the craft table, built some giant towers, did lots of dressing up and used some bigger sized indoor play equipment that we don't have at home. After playgroup, we made some amazing sunflower pictures! We talked about how flowers grow from seeds and looked at some different seeds which we used for the middle of our flowers 🌻🌻🌻

I have been quiet for a while, but we are still here and have been busy learning and having lots of fun!

Today we went to the garden centre to buy some seeds and baby vegetable plants to get our patio vegetable patch under way. Whilst there we also enjoyed looking at all the model animals, had a game of crazy golf and played in the sandpit! We covered some maths by finding different numbers around the golf course and worked together to scoop the sand into the basket and used the pulleys to raise it up. We decided it was quite heavy! We also enjoyed seeing lots of bees, ladybirds and butterflies around the flowers!

Last week was a short week, but we still packed a lot in! We looked some more at different birds, made some bird feeders and explored play-doh and feathers in our messy play activity and made some model birds. We also made our own pasta lunch one day and did all of our usual singing, reading and fine motor skills activities.

Last week we were really interested in the film Frozen. We watched the movie, dressed up in the costumes and practised our fine motor skills by making some paper snowflakes. We also did some activities around birdwatch week, making some bird pictures with the gluing and sticking materials and the younger children explored painting with features. We also had a trip to Abberton reservoir to look through our binoculars at the birds. On top of all this we enjoyed our usual playgroup, went on walks to jump in puddles and had lots of free play at home.

This week we have covered colours with a rainbow toy scavenger hunt, we have looked at how children live in cold countries and made some igloo pictures, we have done more name recognition and number 1 recognition activities and done lots of mark making. We also went to playgroup and, after writing our shopping list, had a trip to the shop to buy things to make our own lunch. It was delicious!

Another busy week here! The weather wasn't kind to us, but we still managed to get out to a couple of playgroups and also for some nice walks and a trip to the park! At home we did some name recognition activities, kept working on finding the number 1 with a homemade game and made some icy blue pictures!

Happy New Year! What a chilly, but fun filled first week of 2026 we have had! We have enjoyed looking at the small amount of snow we have had this week, taking the opportunity to talk about wrapping up warm when it's cold outside and practising putting on our own coats, hats and gloves. We went on a winter walk to find some ice and whilst we were out we practised some number recognition finding the number "1" in lots of different places! We made some great snowy pictures, attended our usual playgroup and managed a trip to Call of the Wild Zoo where we talked about which animals lived in hot places and which lived in cold places. We even fit in a little play at the soft play too!

What a lovely week we have had enjoying the sun and spending lots of time learning outside! We have explored capacity and measure with water play, done lots of large scale marking making with sand play, outside painting and by doing tree rubbings (and rubbings of anything interesting we could find in the garden), planted some vegetable and flowers seeds and learnt what we need to make them grow, washed the babies, and had lots of fun with different tools in the mud kitchen.
