Michelle Archer’s Nursery

Our lovely nursery is within Hollingbourne village. This is so different from childminding, hard work but also fun with all the children and great staff.

We had our first Ofsted inspection and was thrilled with the glowing report 'Good' in all areas. Hello, I am a childminder. Rated 9. 9 1/2,
I received top grade's from Ofsted in 2011 and 2015 In 2021 my Childminding Setting is celebrating after getting three Good’s and an outstanding by Ofsted in our most recent inspection on 23 November 2021. Ofsted had updated its inspection handbooks for Septe

mber 2021/2022 making a lot of changes to the framework and also outlining the additional COVID-19 pandemic. We planned for our curriculum including any rational new or modified ways of working day to day with the children making as little disruption to their learning as possible. The children came into my setting very shy and some clingy, their parents were so upset not being able to come inside and look around so we set a lot of toys and activities
out the front of the house so the parents could watch their child settle in and play alongside the other children making it easier for them to wave and say “see you later”. Our Ofsted report is full of glowing praise from the two inspectors we had on the day. The report said, All the children display superb behaviour and social skills. The children spend their day laughing and chatting happily with their friends and trusted carers. All the adults working in the setting are very skilled at extending children’s learning and enjoyment through their interactions. Children’s physical development is promoted very well. Michelle has a lot of clear floor space and ensure that each area contains sturdy resources or furniture that children can use to pull themselves up. The garden space is used well for active play,
and there are regular outings to local toddler groups, park, farms, music and movement groups. Michelle and her staff have a clear understanding of their responsibility to keep children safe. They have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding matters. Parents provided extremely positive feedback about the quality of the service they receive. They praise Michelle and her assistants and report that their children are very happy and love attending. I am registered with KCC to deliver the Early Years Free Entitlement.

Our lovely Teddy Raffle and Biscuit Icing Stall was a great success! 🧸🍪☀️

We were delighted to be joined by our local MP, Helen Whately, who even sat with us and joined in the fun.

It was wonderful to catch up with familiar faces and meet new families interested in joining our lovely nursery community. With the sun shining and plenty of smiles all around, everyone had a fantastic time.

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported us – we loved seeing you all! 💛🌞🧸

We also had a lot of giggles while learning 🤣🤣🤣 yes I kept putting my hand over the valve and pushed the ball down so hard 🤣🤣

🩹 Another great part of today’s first aid training was learning abdominal thrusts and how to safely help someone who is choking. We covered the correct techniques across all age groups and how to act quickly and calmly in an emergency situation. A very important skill that could one day save a life.

🩻 Today’s training also covered spinal fractures and how important it is to recognise the signs of a possible spinal injury and manage the situation safely. We learnt how to protect the casualty from further harm, keep them still and supported, how to move them onto their side and respond calmly while waiting for emergency services. Another vital part of first aid training that could make all the difference in an emergency.

⛑️🩹 Fantastic first aid training today with all my amazing staff.

🩻🦴💉🩸 We covered so many important areas including spinal fractures, head injuries, asthma, meningitis, cross infection, first aid boxes, managing emergency situations, choking across all ages, unconscious casualties, the recovery position, cardiac arrest, performing CPR and using an AED, electricity and electric shock, recognising and treating different types of shock, administering injections safely for anaphylaxis, bleeding, wounds, burns, scalds, objects in ears and noses, poisoning, eye injuries, fractures, soft tissue injuries and so much more.

A huge thank you to everyone for taking part and working so hard throughout the day. It’s so important to keep our knowledge and training up to date to help keep all our children, families and staff safe. ❤️
