Black History Month Celebratory Games Night

To celebrate Black History Month UK, Invicta will be holding a celebratory games night on Thursday, 15 October, from 4.00pm to 5.45pm in the Sixth Form Common Room.

Join us for an afternoon of games and fun while helping to support a fantastic cause. Tickets will be available on the door for £4, with all proceeds going to The Sickle Cell Society.

We hope to see lots of you there!

On Thursday, 24 September, our new Year 7 football team enjoyed their first outing for Invicta, with 14 students taking part in a series of 7-a-side friendlies.

The squad was split into two teams, both of which performed brilliantly throughout the afternoon. Team 1 secured wins against Valley, SST and Maplesden, alongside a draw against Maplesden’s second team, scoring seven goals without conceding. Team 2 continued the strong form with victories against Lenham and Maplesden, as well as a draw against SST, scoring five goals and also keeping a clean sheet throughout.

Across all of the matches, students demonstrated fantastic skill, determination and team spirit. This was a brilliant first outing for our new Year 7 team, and we are incredibly proud of their performances.

We look forward to seeing how they continue to develop throughout the year!

FIGS Fair

Invicta's annual FIGS Fair was a tremendous success, with excellent attendance from students, families and staff. Blessed with sunshine, the event provided a wonderful opportunity for our school community to come together while supporting an important cause.

The fair featured a wide variety of stalls, each planned, developed and operated by our Year 8 and Year 9 tutor groups to raise funds for FIGS. The entrepreneurial ideas were entirely student-led, with each tutor group developing its own concept from the initial planning stages through to the organisation and running of the stall. The creativity, originality and enthusiasm demonstrated by the students were particularly impressive.
We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to all of the tutors and members of staff who gave their time and support. Their encouragement and involvement were greatly appreciated.

We are equally grateful to all the families who attended and supported the event so generously. Your presence and contributions will make a valuable difference to the funds raised for our school.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to Clark & Sons Construction Ltd for their incredible generosity and support. They kindly supplied the materials and built and donated a fantastic Photo Booth for the fair, which was a brilliant addition to the day and a wonderful gift that can continue to be enjoyed at future school events.

Thank you also to Clock House Farm, who very kindly donated the strawberries sold at the fair. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity and support of our school community.

And a special thank you to the FIGS team, who worked extremely hard to run the food and drinks stalls throughout the event. The candy floss stall proved particularly popular, with the longest queue of the day, clearly a testament to just how much it was enjoyed!

The FIGS Fair was an excellent demonstration of student enterprise, creativity, collaboration and community spirit. We are extremely proud of the contribution made by our students and grateful to everyone who helped make the event such a success.

Tomorrow, we will be welcoming prospective students and their families to Invicta for our annual Open Evening.

Throughout the evening, each talk will open with a breathtaking performance from our choir, who have been working incredibly hard in rehearsals, preparing for our biggest event of the academic year.

Departments across the school have also been busy preparing to showcase their subjects, learning spaces, and the many opportunities available at Invicta.

Charlotte in 8G has had a fantastic first season playing cricket for Marden Girls Cricket Club and was recently nominated to attend Kent Cricket talent identification trials.

Following a successful trial, Charlotte has now been invited to join the Kent Regional Development Programme, with training beginning in November.

This is a brilliant achievement and a fantastic reflection of Charlotte’s progress throughout her first season. Well done, Charlotte!

Our Open Evening is taking place next week on Thursday, 1 October, from 4.30pm to 7.00pm.

We warmly invite prospective Year 7 students and their parents/carers to join us and discover a school where curiosity is encouraged, ambition is nurtured, and every student is inspired to achieve their very best.

During the evening, visitors can explore our learning spaces, meet staff and students, and experience the school through a student-led tour, gaining a genuine insight into the opportunities, experiences and sense of community that define life at Invicta.

Our Headteacher will also share the school’s vision and values, including our commitment to academic excellence, personal development and preparing young people to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Mrs Finlay is taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon in 2026 to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK, a cause very close to her heart.

She will be running 13.1 miles through some of London’s most iconic parks, helping to raise vital funds for research into Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Our Year 7 students have recently been enjoying Leadership Drinks as part of their transition programme.

During the first few weeks of term, students have the opportunity to meet members of the Leadership Team in a relaxed setting, enjoy a biscuit and a glass of squash, and chat about how they have been settling into life at Invicta.

So far, forms 7I and 7N have taken part and enjoyed the chance to share their experiences, ask questions and spend time with staff and their peers.

Leadership Drinks are a lovely way to help our new Year 7 students feel welcomed, supported and part of the Invicta community. We look forward to the rest of our Year 7 forms enjoying their sessions over the coming weeks!

Our recent Sixth Form football trials saw a fantastic turnout, with more than 30 students taking part!

It was brilliant to see the skill, teamwork and commitment shown by all students throughout the session. Trials and training will continue on Thursdays as the team prepares for their first fixture, which is fast approaching.

Netball Trials Get Underway!

Last week saw the Sixth Form and Year 11 netball trials take place. Despite having to move indoors due to the rain, it was fantastic to see such a great turnout, with plenty of familiar faces alongside students new to the school team.

Following the trials, a Sixth Form squad was selected to represent Invicta at a range of county tournaments. This is an exciting milestone for the school, as it will be the first time Invicta has entered a Sixth Form team into a county league.

A strong Year 11 team was also selected, with the squad looking to build on the success of last year, when they were crowned Maidstone Schools champions. Their aim this season is to maintain their title and continue their excellent run of success.

A huge well done to everyone who took part in the trials, and congratulations to all those selected. Training for the new season starts next week, and we look forward to seeing both teams in action!
