🎙️ Sixth Form Work Experience Spotlight: Jamie

Year 13 student Jamie, who is studying Sport and Media as part of her Sixth Form course, recently had an incredible opportunity to complete her work experience at Bauer Media.

Jamie spent time working alongside producers and presenters, gaining first-hand experience of the media industry and meeting some well-known faces along the way. The experience gave her a real insight into broadcasting and helped reinforce her confidence in the career path she would like to pursue.

What makes Jamie’s experience even more impressive is the determination behind it. She kept contacting Bauer, kept asking and kept trying — even when it took time. Eventually, that persistence paid off and the answer was YES!

Jamie’s message to other students is simple:

“Keep trying, believe in yourself and don’t give up. If you don’t try, you won’t get!”

A fantastic example of resilience, ambition and creating your own opportunities. We are incredibly proud of Jamie and everything she is achieving as part of her Sixth Form journey.

🌟 Our most successful Open Evening yet! 🌟

The Lenham School has never been busier, and we could not have been prouder to open our doors and showcase everything that makes TLS such a special place.

From a brilliant sneak peek of this year’s annual production, Legally Blonde, to every subject area bringing learning to life, our prospective students and their families had the opportunity to experience what life at TLS is really like.

But, as always, the real stars of the evening were our students. Their confidence, enthusiasm, kindness and pride in their school shone through throughout the night.

We were delighted to receive some wonderful feedback afterwards:

💬 “The students looked like they were having lots of fun.”

💬 Several of our Year 7 tour guides were described as “excited, informative, helpful, polite and delightfully cheeky”, with parents saying it was the best school tour they had experienced.

💬 One parent also shared: “Harry was great with my SEN child. My son loves Science and really enjoyed his experiments.”

Feedback like this makes us incredibly proud. Our students did more than show visitors around the school — they showed them what it means to be part of The Lenham School community.

A huge thank you to every student and member of staff who helped make the evening such a success, and to all the families who came to visit us.

We can’t wait to welcome even more prospective students and families when our Open Morning Tours begin next week!

A fantastic celebration of European Languages Day with our brilliant cake sale!

A huge thank you to the students and families who put so much time and effort into baking such an amazing selection of cakes, as well as to all the students who came along to support the event.

As always, special thanks must go to our fantastic MFL Department for their continued dedication to promoting a love of language learning across the school, while also using the opportunity to raise money for charity.

A brilliant example of our school community coming together – language, culture and plenty of cake! 🌍🗣️🍰

🇫🇷 Fantastic success for our GCSE French students! 🇪🇺

On Friday 25th September, three of our Year 10 GCSE French students represented The Lenham School at the 2nd Maidstone Linguistics Olympiad, hosted by New Line Learning Academy as part of the celebrations for European Day of Languages.

Tommy, Dasha and Louanna competed against students from five other Maidstone schools, tackling a series of extremely challenging rounds which required them to decipher and analyse a variety of different languages.

Our team led the competition for several rounds and, after a very closely fought contest, finished an outstanding second place, narrowly behind Invicta Grammar School.

A huge congratulations to Tommy, Dasha and Louanna for representing the school so brilliantly. Their teamwork, resilience and linguistic skills were exceptional.

We are incredibly proud of you all! 👏🌍

A big thank you as well to Mrs Leatherbarrow, Lead Teacher of MFL, for giving our students the opportunity to take part in such a fantastic event.

Teamwork in action!

Our Year 7 students had a fantastic team building day, tackling challenges that put their communication and problem-solving skills to the test.

It was lovely to see them sharing ideas, encouraging one another and persevering when things got tricky. They clearly enjoyed the day and showed just how much potential they have as a year group!

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a positive experience.
