When did you last let someone look after you? Properly, without saying “I’m fine” or rushing to return the favour?
Last week I watched a woman receive two cakes she hadn’t asked for. She cried. Then she ate the bits she loved and shared the rest.
It got me thinking about all the little ways we turn care away.
When someone last paid you a compliment, did you let it land, or did you brush it off?
When the sun hit your skin, did you let it kiss you and sink in, or did you rush past it?
So many of us are running on empty while telling ourselves that needing help means we’re not coping.
But giving without ever receiving is a fast road to disconnection. From yourself first. And then, so quietly you barely notice, from the little people you’re doing it all for.
This isn’t about doing more. It’s about letting a little back in, so there’s still some of you left to give.
Receiving isn’t weakness. It’s a skill, and most of us were simply never taught it.
So this week, try this:
✨When someone offers, pause before you say no
✨Take one slow breath in and let it be you receiving
✨Say “Thank you. Yes, please” and notice how your body feels
If this landed, follow along for more gentle, grounded ways to fill yourself back up, one breath at a time.
