Let's get cooking! 👨‍🍳👩‍🍳

Did you know at Hemsley House we do cooking weekly!

In todays session, we took turns measuring out the ingredients, we particularly focused on what half a spoon of sugar looked liked!

We spoke about all sorts of things including, what we are making, ingredients, oven safety, and counting out our spoonfuls.

We then placed our amazing creations on the tray and into the oven, the children then helped tidy up with a dustpan and brush and cleaning the table!

Of course eating our lovely creations was the best bit! 😄

At Hemsley, we’ve noticed a particular interest in transforming and transferring - to enhance and build upon this, we built our potion station 🌷 🌺 🧪

As always, an honour and pleasure to watch the children engage in play, in their very own unique way ♥️

National Baby-Led Weaning Day 💛

Baby-led weaning gives children the opportunity to explore food independently, helping to build confidence, support fine motor development and encourage a positive relationship with food from the very start.

We know that every family's weaning journey is different. That's why we take time during the settling-in process to understand each family's preferences and chosen approach. Whether parents opt for baby-led weaning, purées or a combination of both, it's always led by parental choice, with our nursery teams there to provide support every step of the way.

Through close partnerships with families, we create positive mealtime experiences where children can safely explore a variety of tastes and textures at their own pace. As they do, they're developing independence, self-confidence and important skills that support their wider learning and development.
