CREATIVITY IN FULL BLOOM!
The Ceramics Studio was buzzing during our Open Evening, with prospective students and their families getting stuck in and creating clay poppies for our upcoming Remembrance Day installation. 🌺
But the visitors weren’t just making things. Our GCSE and A Level Art students were on hand to demonstrate their skills, share their techniques and talk about the work they’ve been creating.
From hands-on creativity to expert student demonstrations, there was a real sense of energy, curiosity and inspiration throughout the studio.
A vibrant, fascinating evening that showcased exactly what makes our Creative Arts provision so special.

TINY TREASURES, BIG IDEAS!
Our Business and Ceramics students have been busy turning their creativity into their very own enterprise, designing and making unique jewellery and small decorative pieces.
On Monday, 5 October, it was time to put their hard work to the test with their first ever sale!
There was a real buzz around the stall as students and staff browsed, bought and admired their handmade treasures, all while enjoying the October sunshine. ☀️
Even better, the money raised will be reinvested into the business, helping our young entrepreneurs develop their enterprise even further. 📈
And they’re not stopping there! The students are already working towards their next Tiny Treasures sale, with Christmas firmly in their sights!

This term, Year 8 have been taking part in Outdoor Adventurous Activities (OAA), with a focus on developing their communication skills.
Students have explored verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening and conflict resolution, with upcoming lessons focusing on asking effective questions and giving and receiving feedback.
Last week, students took part in an object scavenger hunt. Working in teams, they followed clues to find objects around the school grounds, taking photographs of what they found before plotting their locations on a map.
OAA is a great part of PE, helping students develop communication, teamwork, problem-solving and map-reading skills through practical challenges.

This week, our assemblies are helping us mark Black History Month and explore this year’s theme: “Honouring Our Communities.”
It’s all about shining a light on the people whose contributions help shape everyday life, but whose stories often go unseen.
Across Britain, Black people are making a difference every single day. Teachers inspire and shape futures. Volunteers give their time and energy. Carers provide dignity, compassion and support.
Their stories remind us that service, leadership, creativity and community action come in many forms.
And there’s plenty more to discover around school!
Our TV screens are showcasing all 54 people featured in the Honouring Black Britain poster collection, celebrating individuals nominated through BHM’s national campaign earlier this year.
Take a moment to look, discover a new story and celebrate the people helping to make Britain what it is today.

Our Art Scholars enjoyed a fantastic painting workshop on Friday, working collaboratively to create a collection of impressive artworks that will soon be proudly displayed at our upcoming Open Evening.
The workshop was a wonderful opportunity for students to develop their creativity, experiment with different techniques and, most importantly, inspire and support one another. Their commitment and enthusiasm throughout the whole day truly reflected our school values of Ambition, Respect and Kindness.
We are incredibly proud of their work and can’t wait to share it with you! Join us at our Open Evening to see their fantastic paintings on display and celebrate their creativity. We look forward to welcoming you!

On Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 September, our Year 7, 8 and 10 netball teams took part in the annual Maidstone Schools Netball Tournament.
With multiple schools from across Maidstone taking part, it was fantastic to see so many girls enjoying an afternoon of netball in the sunshine. The tournament provided a great opportunity for our students to compete, develop their skills and represent Valley Park alongside other schools in the local area.
As we await the final results, we are looking forward to finding out which leagues the girls will be placed into, with plenty more matches to look forward to throughout the year.
A huge well done to all of the girls who took part. Thank you for turning up, giving your best and representing Valley Park School so positively.
