🐖 Baby Badgers Big Adventure 🚜

Today we headed off to the farm for our first big outing with our newest Little Badgers — and what a lovely day we had!

We started in Cuddle Corner, where the children could gently stroke the guinea pigs and meet a very energetic rabbit… although one Little Badger seemed more interested in chasing him around!

We then wandered over to see the alpacas and sheep. The sheep gave us a VERY loud welcome, making quite a few of us jump!

The pigs were definitely a favourite, with everyone fascinated by their muddy snuffling and discussing just how “yucky” they looked!

There was also plenty of fun on the ride-on tractors, playing in the park, a picnic in the sunshine and, for our bigger Badgers, a tractor ride around the farm.

A beautiful day, lots of exploring, plenty of laughter and our Baby Badgers taking on their first big Little Badgers adventure like they’ve been doing it forever.

🍂 October 2026 🍂

Autumn is finally here and we are SO ready for pumpkin season! Over the coming weeks, we’ll be picking pumpkins and finding lots of ways to include them in our play and adventures.

Our Baby Badgers have settled in beautifully throughout September, and this month we have a very special celebration — three Baby Badgers turning ONE, all in the same week! There will be plenty of balloons, birthday cake and birthday fun!

We also have lots of adventures planned, along with hopefully plenty of spontaneous ones too.

And at the end of the month, we’ll enjoy a little R&R before a few days of half-term Halloween madness!

🌳 Conkers 🌳

We headed out for a lovely autumn walk to begin our autumn learning and there was so much to spot along the way - Leaves changing from green to beautiful autumn colour, Helicopter seeds falling from the trees, And, of course, LOTS of conkers!

We couldn't resist bringing some of our treasures back with us, and they quickly became part of our water play — keeping the children entertained for ages!
They scooped conkers into all sorts of different containers, filled up jugs and poured them through our guttering, watching carefully as the conkers rolled along, tumbled out the end and made a big splash!

They watched the water trickle through the guttering and experimented with what happened when they added more and more conkers.

And our littlest Badger was completely fascinated. He was busy trying to catch the water as it came through, before watching the bigger children and deciding he wanted to have a go too. He copied them, filling up his own jug with conkers and joining in with the fun.
There's something so special about watching the younger children learn simply by being alongside the older ones, copying, experimenting and finding their own way to join in.

No fancy resources, no complicated set-up… just things we found on our walk, a bit of water and lots of time to explore.

🖌 Blackberry Painting 🖌

Every morning, we walk past a blackberry bush and the children decided they wanted to pick some. We decided to taste them and use them for painting as nobody was keen on them.

The children squashed the blackberries and got straight to work, using the juice to create their own paintings. Flowers, unicorns, people… and, of course, covering as much of the paper as possible!

As the first layer of blackberry paint began to dry, they spotted that the colour was changing. The fresh, wet blackberry juice was much brighter, while the paint that had dried was becoming darker. We talked about what they could see, compared the colours and watched their pictures change as they dried.

Once they were finished, we hung their masterpieces up to display and, unsurprisingly, their friends immediately wanted a turn! So we headed back out, found some more blackberries and started all over again.

And for our littlest Badgers, this was the perfect taste-safe paint! They're still at that stage where everything goes straight into their mouths, so using something completely natural meant they could explore without us constantly saying, “Don't eat the paint!” Although… the faces they pulled when they discovered that some of the berries were a little sour were absolutely priceless!

A simple blackberry bush on our morning walk turned into painting, colour exploration, sensory play, mark-making, creativity, observation, tasting, laughter and a whole lot of fun.

👶 A Busy Few Weeks 👶

We started this term with four new Baby Badgers, some of our original Badgers starting preschool, an extra school run, new routines and enough different nap schedules to make my head spin — and I think we’re finally starting to find our rhythm.

I’m not going to lie, it has felt like a LOT. There has been so much change in such a short space of time, and even for Lex and I, it has taken some adjusting. We’re juggling different school runs, preschool drop-offs, naps, settling-in babies, keeping everyone entertained and, of course, trying to make sure our older Badgers still get all the fun, adventures and attention they’re used to.

And honestly… we’re doing our best.

We’ve still managed some lovely days out, although perhaps a little less frequently than usual while we find our feet. The babies are settling brilliantly — some as though they’ve been here forever, and others who are still needing a few extra cuddles and reassurance. And that’s absolutely okay. Every child settles in their own time.

Our original Badgers have been AMAZING. They’ve adapted to all the changes so well and have been so caring and helpful with the new babies. We miss them terribly when they’re at preschool, but getting those big cuddles when they come home and hearing all about their day and everything they’ve been learning makes it pretty special.

Childminding might look like lots of lovely photos, adventures, crafts and cuddles from the outside, but there is SO much that happens behind the scenes...The 14hour days. The planning. The cleaning. The paperwork. The meal prep. The setting prep. The school runs. The naps. The laundry. The constant thinking ahead. The organising. The emotional energy.
And the physical toll pushing a wagon containing four babies up a hill has on my body...it definitely counts as a full body workout!

Childminding really is the best job in the world, and I wouldn’t change what I do for anything. But I also think it’s important to be honest and say that sometimes it is hard. It won't be long before I can look back on this time and laugh about how crazy it was.

Little Badgers Adventures await and we will continue being Family All 🖤

🍁 September 2026 🍁

It's a new month, a new term and a whole lot of changes are coming.

This month, we welcome four new babies to our Badger family and are looking forward to helping them learn and develop special friendships.

We are so ready for the 'ber months' to enjoy the autumnal changes, the cooler weather and I have missed seeing the children in our matching puddlesuits when playing outside. We can't wait for more adventures together!

✨ New beginnings ✨

I have a new-found love for AI and have had so much fun using it to help me create some wonderful things, so I asked it to create a new logo ready for our new beginnings this term.

A new logo, new little Baby Badgers, new routines, new adventures and lots of exciting changes ahead… but still the same Little Badgers at heart.

☀️ End Of The Holidays ☀️

For our last day of the holidays we headed back to the park I grew up in and had a lovely day out. We also took one of our Baby Badgers on his first day, to enjoy adventures with us from the very beginning. He was able to enjoy the swings, little play area equipment and then crawling around the field watching the Little Badgers. Our big ones completed obstacle courses and we were so proud of one of our friends as she tried a huge and challenging climbing frame by herself. We offered lots of guidance and support and she successfully got to the slide and flew down! We love it when the children try new things and succeed! We ended our park trip with some mini rides, (the most expensive) hook a duck and an ice cream!

The holidays have come to an end and we've had the best summer together and made fantastic memories!

👋 Goodbye Friend 👋

Last week, Little Badger M had his last full day with his friends… but we are very lucky that this isn't a complete goodbye, because M will be returning as a Big Badger for wraparound care!

It feels like only yesterday that we welcomed a quiet, shy little boy through our doors, and somehow, over the years, that little boy has grown into one of the loudest, funniest, cheekiest and craziest Little Badgers we know!

And what makes M's final year with us even more special is that he has been lucky enough to share so much of it with his little brother and his Mummy, who has been working alongside me. What a special thing that has been, being able to make so many wonderful memories together during his last year before school. They really have been blessed to experience so many adventures, laughs, celebrations and everyday Little Badger moments together.

We've watched M's confidence grow, his personality shine and his friendships blossom. From the endless laughter and cheeky backchat, to those unforgettable dance moves and all the adventures he's shared with his best buddies, he has left such a special little mark on our setting.

We will definitely miss having him with us during the days. The playroom will feel a little quieter without his voice, his laughter and his cheeky personality filling it!

We are incredibly proud of the little boy he has become and so excited to watch him take this next big step.

But thankfully, this isn't really goodbye…once a Little Badger, always a Little Badger.
We love him lots and couldn't be prouder of him. ❤️
