🚨 WE HAVE BEEN TOLD TO LEAVE LANGLEY VILLAGE HALL BECAUSE WE COMPLAINED.

After years of running Clubbercise there, I raised concerns about repeated shouting and mocking from the group using the field next to the hall. It was disruptive and making women attending my class feel uncomfortable.

I asked the Hall Committee for help. Instead, I was told “Kids will be Kids” and that we should either accept it or leave. A solution of "just keep the door closed" was off the cuff suggested.

I explained that would breach our right of ventilation, for health and safety reasons, and asked the group we had made a complaint against be instructed to respect us, as we do them, and please just stay away.

So what happened? They said they are terminating our booking!

No breach of contract was identified. No proper notice was given. And when I arrived this evening, the hall was bolted!

Think about that.

Women raise concerns about behaviour that makes them uncomfortable... and the women are the ones who get removed.

What message does that send?

Keep quiet. Don't complain. Don't make a fuss. Well I don't accept that and think we have been treated disgracefully.

Anyone who believes a community hall should be there for ALL of its community would agree with me.

But they haven't stopped Clubbercise ❤️ WE ARE MOVING. WE ARE CONTINUING.

I have already secured a new venue nearby. Everyone booked this week will be carried over, and I will send the details for next week's class as soon as possible. I will also forward the E-mail address for our complaints to be heard, should you wish to send one yourself.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me.

You can take away our hall. You cannot take away our community. 🫶🏻
