Good morning and a happy 2021! What strange times we live in. I hope you all managed to have some sort of celebration over Christmas.

With all the uncertainties surrounding schools at the moment, I wanted to let you know that I am available during most daytimes to offer some support with Yr 5, 6 and 7 Maths and Yr 5 and 6 English. This can be at a regular time or on an ad hoc basis. I am setting up a subscription service where you can pay for an amount of time each month. This could then be used for online teaching, email support, advice on resources, etc.

I also have availability on Thursdays from 3.30 to 6 if you would like a weekly slot.

Please pm me for details or email me at [email protected]

My lovely friend. Something different for your kids.

Do you know young people who may enjoy some summer sewing?? I'd love you to share this post if you do.

I have created a FREE Summer Teen Sewing Series. There are five 20-30 minute videos along with downloadable templates and requirements (kept to a minimum). The projects can be sewn by machine or hand and are suitable for young people aged 10-16 years old (or younger if helped by an adult).

The video will be released weekly on my website from 20th July. To access them you must sign up for the series. This is free and gives you access to a members area on my website where the videos will be hosted.

So do sign up ... it is free and fun and good for the long Summer Hols. The five projects we are covering are in the picture below. To sign up (no catches) please follow this link.

Good afternoon! I hope everyone is keeping well and managing to cope with the lockdown.
Schools 'go back' next week and who knows how long it will be until they are physically back at school.
If your child is in Year 5, 6, 7 or 8 and needs a bit of help with their Maths, then I am going to be running online tutoring sessions from next week.
I usually have limits on my availability but will now be free to do sessions during the day, if required.
I have availability on Mondays from 11-3, Tuesdays from 2-5, Wednesdays from 11-5 and Thursdays from 2-5.
I can offer a regular slot each week, or different times to suit. Usually I charge £35 ph for face to face tuition, but I'm offering my online sessions for £25 ph, or pro rata for a shorter session.
Please message me if you are interested.

A couple of fun activities that you could do with your children that will help with their understanding of Maths. These are probably suitable for Yrs 5,6,7 and 8 but feel free to adapt.

* Get them to keep a diary of their daily activities. They could then work out how much time they spend on each activity (time, adding using time, time intervals); what fraction of their day they spend doing each activity; what percentage of the day they spend doing each activity; weekly average time, etc. They could compare this with their friends, siblings, etc. They could also draw graphs, bar charts, pie charts using a computer.

* Work out how many sheets of toilet paper each person in the household uses per day! They could then work out how many days a roll would last; averages; cost, etc.

* Work out how long a bag of pasta will last!!!

Have fun and keep safe. Feel free to post comments, photos, etc on this page.

Good morning all. Wow, how quickly things are changing. I'm trying to get my head around how my work is going to change, and what measures I need to put in place.

I am suspending all my face to face tutoring for the foreseeable future and looking at how I can support you all with on-line sessions. This may take a week or two to get my head around, so please bear with me. We are all going to have to adjust to children not being at school and to the exams being cancelled for this year.

In the meantime, if you need any support, please do not hesitate to contact me.

*UPDATE. Clearly this is not going to happen now!!!*

I’m planning on running some SATs sessions over the Easter break. If your child needs a bit of a boost in any aspect of the Maths or SPAG tests, or they just need a bit of a confidence boost, then these sessions can help. I will run small group sessions from my home in the St Marks area of Maidenhead. Individual sessions can be arranged too.
Sessions will take place on 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th April. Each session can be tailored to an individual’s needs and will last either 1 or 1.5 hours, am or pm. There is no commitment to a minimum number of sessions.

I am an experienced teacher with 4 years experience of Maths SAT marking, am fully insured and DBS checked.

Please pm me if you are interested or email me at [email protected]

Happy soggy Thursday!
I've now finished marking Maths SAT papers for another year and am thinking ahead to September. I'm not sure if I have any spaces for new pupils and I won't know until September once my current tutees go back to school and settle into their new routines, clubs, etc. I am also waiting to see what my commitment at school will be as this is likely to increase in September.
However, I am spending most of the summer holiday in Maidenhead, so will be available for ad hoc lessons if needed, especially if your child is in Year 5 and going to be taking their 11 plus in September. Although I don't do 11 plus tuition specifically, I can help with gaps in maths. Please message me if you think your child would benefit. There's no need to commit to a minimum number of sessions and times can be flexible.
Also, if you were interested in tuition in September, I will put your name on a waiting list and contact you when I have availability.
