Today the children enjoyed celebrating the King's Birthday! ππ
The children got creative by making special birthday cupcakes for the King using play dough and coloured rice. They also developed their maths skills by matching the correct number of candles to numbered birthday cakesπ
To continue the celebrations, the children designed and decorated their own crowns. The celebrations ended with lots of smiles as they took part in their very own royal parade! πβ¨

This week the children had a fantastic time exploring the story of Aliens Love Underpants! π½π©²β¨
The children used play dough and a variety of decorative resources to create their own unique aliens, as well as designing colourful alien faces using paints and different materials.
They also developed their maths skills through counting activities, matching items to numbered underpants, and had lots of fun investigating our exciting space-themed sensory tray. πͺ
Using construction materials, the children let their imaginations soar as they designed and built their very own rockets! π

π° Fairytales π°
π· Using Numicon, the children constructed houses for the Three Little Pigs, exploring shape, size, and early mathematical concepts while discussing which houses might be the strongest.
π° They designed and built their own castles using a variety of junk modelling materials, carefully selecting resources and developing their construction skills.
πͺ Inspired by The Gingerbread Man, the children created their own gingerbread men using ginger-scented play dough, engaging their senses while developing fine motor skills.
πͺ To add a little extra magic, the children also made beautiful sparkly wands!

This year, we had some very cheeky butterflies who waited until half term to emerge from their chrysalises! π¦
Today, we shared photos and videos of their release with the children.
The children loved looking at the beautiful patterns and colours on their wings, and we discussed the butterfly life cycle from start to finish.
It was wonderful to reflect on the journey from caterpillar to butterfly and celebrate this special moment together. π¦

Down in the jungle π΄
The children have been creative, making fantastic tiger faces using lots of different craft materials and explored jungle play dough with animal figures, creating their very own jungle adventures! πΏπ¦
The children used forks in paint to create amazing lion manes, producing some very fierce-looking lions! π¦
They strengthened their fine motor skills by adding peg legs to jungle animals and also practised their sorting skills by organising jungle animals into size order β from the tiniest creatures to the biggest jungle giants! π

π What the ladybird heard π
The children have been creative, making their own ladybirds using a variety of crafts including painting, sticking and play dough. They also explored a small world farm tray, using the characters and animals to recreate the story and bring it to life through imaginative play. ππ
In art, the children experimented with colour mixing while creating farm animal footprints in paint, and in maths they practised their counting skills by making the correct amount of spots for numbered ladybirdsπ

The children explored the story of Superpotato in lots of creative ways. They used vegetables to make printed paintings, practised their counting skills while making play dough peas, designed their own βEvil Peasβ using paint and a variety of craft materials, and made fantastic Superpotatoes from play dough.
Our supermarket role-play area was especially popular this week! The children loved taking on different roles as shopkeepers, cashiers and customers. π
