We're proud to have contributed to the fourth edition of Language of Examinations — and delighted that our founder and seniour course tutor Caroline Read will be presenting on behalf of Communicate-ed at the launch webinar on 28th September.
Built on three decades of work, this new edition brings together voices from across deaf education, speech and language therapy, SpLD support, assessment and inclusive practice. It’s a practical resource supporting professionals to make language more accessible across classroom learning, teaching, assessment and examinations for learners who may experience linguistic barriers.
It moves beyond exam language alone to look at how unnecessary linguistic barriers can show up anywhere in a learner's educational journey — and how to reduce them without lowering expectations.
A central theme is Accessibility by Design: building language accessibility into classroom materials, tasks and assessments from the outset, rather than adapting after the fact.
