🏰 The results are in! Year 7 Castle Building Competition 🏰

At the end of the last academic year, our Year 7 History students put their creativity and historical knowledge to the test in our Castle Building Competition.

With 70+ castles entered – potentially a record number for FPSS! – students and staff were invited to view the impressive creations and vote for their top three castles.

Now in Year 8, we’re delighted to announce our winners:

🥇 1st Place: Hirun F
🥈 2nd Place: Ellen K, Jessica R & Sophie D
🥉 3rd Place: Charlie W & Freddie C

A huge well done to all our students who took part. With so many fantastic castles to choose from, our judges certainly had a difficult decision!

Our winners will each receive a certificate, medal and medieval-themed prize. 🏅⚔️

🌦️ Year 7 Team Building Days – Day 3 Adventure! 🌦️

Rain or shine, our Year 7 students in our final groups weren't letting the weather get in the way of a fantastic day at Longridge!

Students have been throwing themselves into a packed programme of activities, including dragon boating, climbing, laser tag, crate stacking, trebuchet challenges and team-building tasks.

Despite the wet weather, students have embraced every challenge with a positive attitude, showing excellent teamwork, resilience and mutual support throughout the day.

It's been great to see friendships developing, confidence growing and plenty of smiles all day!

Well done to all our groups today - you are brilliant ambassadors for FPSS! 🌟

🌱🐝 Gardening Club News! 🐝🌱

Our Gardening Club has made a fantastic start to the new season, getting stuck into some important meadow maintenance and conservation work.

Students have been raking cut material from the orchard and wildflower meadow. Removing this material helps to reduce soil fertility, allowing wildflowers to thrive rather than being crowded out by grass. 🌼

The club has also created a habitat stack to provide a safe place for invertebrates to overwinter, and has been sowing additional wildflowers to help boost biodiversity.

🌼 Meet the meadow maker!
Students have also been sowing yellow rattle, a hemiparasitic plant known as the “meadow maker”. It feeds on grass, helping to create more space for other wildflower species to grow.

Fancy getting involved? 🌿 We would love to see more students who are interested in nature, gardening and conservation joining the club. Gardening Club can also support students completing the Duke of Edinburgh Award, including both volunteering and skills sections.

Year 7 Team Building Days – Group Two Takes on the Challenge! 🌟

Our second group of Year 7 students are enjoying an action-packed day at Longridge in Marlow!

Students are embracing a wide variety of exciting activities, including dragon boating, climbing, laser tag, crate stacking, trebuchet challenges and team-building tasks. So far they are demonstrating excellent communication, resilience and teamwork while encouraging their peers every step of the way.

It has been fantastic to see our newest students stepping out of their comfort zones, forming new friendships and developing valuable skills through adventure and collaboration.

A huge congratulations to everyone involved for their enthusiasm and positive attitude!

What a fantastic start to secondary school life! These extra photos from our first group at Longridge on Monday capture even more of the teamwork, determination and fun our Year 7 students enjoyed throughout the day.

From conquering climbing challenges and crate stacking to working together on the water and tackling team-building activities, students showed great resilience, communication and support for one another.

It has been wonderful to see so many new friendships forming and confidence growing already. Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to all staff who supported these events! ⭐

🌿🔬 A Fantastic Day of A-Level Biology Fieldwork at Woolley Firs 🔬🌿

Our Year 13 Biology students enjoyed a valuable day of ecological fieldwork at Woolley Firs on Monday, putting their classroom learning into practice in a real-world setting.

Throughout the day, students developed their practical investigation skills by carrying out a range of ecological sampling techniques in woodland and pond habitats. They collected data, explored biodiversity, and gained first-hand experience of the methods used by professional scientists in the field.

Back at school, students will use the data gathered during the trip to carry out statistical analysis, helping to deepen their understanding of ecological research and preparing them for their AQA Biology studies.

It was fantastic to see students engaging with outdoor learning, alongside developing their confidence, teamwork and scientific skills in such a beautiful natural environment. Well done to everyone involved and thank you to Dr Graham and Mr Barrett for organising this trip.

🌟 Year 7 Team Building Days – Group One, Off to a Great Start! 🌟

Our first group of Year 7 students has had a fantastic day at Longridge Activity Centre in Marlow! 🎉

We enjoyed a brilliant range of activities, including team-building challenges, dragon boating, climbing, laser tag, trebuchet and crate stacking.

It was wonderful to see our new Year 7 students working together, supporting one another, building confidence and making new friends along the way.

A huge well done to everyone who took part - you were fantastic! 👏

We’re looking forward to welcoming the next groups for more teamwork, fun and adventure! 🌟
