ποΈ A Visit from Josh Reynolds MP ποΈ
We were delighted to welcome Josh Reynolds, Member of Parliament for Maidenhead, to meet with the members of Desborough Parliament.
Students took the opportunity to learn more about the election process and the decision making procedures in Westminster. They asked thoughtful and insightful questions, demonstrating genuine curiosity about how Parliament operates and how laws are shaped.
We hope some of our students will have the opportunity to continue the conversation with a visit to Parliament later this year.

Celebrating an Exceptional Achievement
We are incredibly proud to share some fantastic news about Mohammed in Year 11.
Mohammed has achieved outstanding success in a recent creative writing competition. His work has been selected for publication, an impressive accomplishment in its own right, and will now become part of the collection at the British Library, where it will be preserved for generations to come.
To have his writing archived within such a prestigious national institution is an extraordinary honour and a true testament to his talent, creativity and dedication.
Congratulations, Mohammed. We cannot wait to see where your writing journey takes you next.

β½ Inter-House Football Tournament Success! β½
Last week, our Year 7 and Year 8 students took part in an exciting inter-house football tournament. Despite challenging weather conditions, the energy on the pitches never dropped, and the competition remained fierce but fair throughout.
The matches featured excellent goals, determined defending and impressive teamwork. It was fantastic to see such strong sportsmanship on display, with students supporting one another and representing their houses with pride.
A special mention must go to our Year 10 Sports Leaders, who organised the tournament superbly. They worked closely with the younger students and ensured the event ran smoothly from start to finish. Their leadership, encouragement and professionalism were a real credit to the school and truly reflected the very best of Desborough.
π Congratulations to everyone involved for making it such a positive and successful event.

π¨ Creative Clay Workshop Success! π¨
This week, a group of our Year 7 and Year 8 boys took part in their second workshop with our Artist in Residence, Helen Evans.
During the two-hour session, students were introduced to key ceramic techniques, learning how to knead, roll and cut clay before creating their own individual sculptural vessels. They began by forming a circular base using a template and a metal kidney tool, before carefully rolling coils and attaching them using the traditional scratch and attach method. Throughout the process, students demonstrated excellent care and precision, ensuring their clay remained workable by maintaining the correct moisture levels.
The finished pieces were incredibly impressive, particularly given the short duration of the workshop and the studentsβ relative inexperience with the medium.
We are extremely proud of the focus, creativity and engagement shown by all involved, and we look forward to seeing how their skills continue to develop in future sessions.

π Year 8 Create Incredible Dragon Eyes! π
Our Year 8 Art students have been busy crafting their own unique dragon eyes using air-dry clay and coloured glass eyes.
Students began by shaping an eye-shaped base before carefully moulding and attaching two eyelids. Once secured, they added intricate details such as coils, spikes and spirals to decorate the outer edges. The level of creativity and individuality on display was outstanding, every single dragon eye turned out completely different.
The pieces will take a few days to fully dry, after which students will be able to take them home to share with parents and carers.
We are incredibly proud of the imagination, care and craftsmanship shown throughout this project.
Fantastic work, Year 8!
