Top Ten Takeaways from the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill An important new Bill is currently being debated by MPs in parliament. The Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill sets out how the Labour Party aims to remove barriers to opportunity in schools and improve the education system to make it more consistent and safer for every child.

A busy day around Maidenhead today starting with an assembly and talk at Altwood Church of England School, then over to Beech Lodge School to meet staff and students, followed by a trip into the Nicholsons Shopping Centre consultation.

Finishing off with a Q&A with the Girl Guides!

Marlow Library is launching a free social club for neurodivergent teenagers, aged 13 to 17, which will meet on Saturdays from 11am to noon, starting this Saturday, February 8.
There will be a discussion about a different topic each week to help young people to better understand themselves, and the sessions will also give them the opportunity to make friends in a friendly and supportive setting.
There is no need to register in advance, just drop in at the library, which is in Institute Road, off the High Street.

Our friends at Beech Lodge School run the Apprenticeshop in Maidenhead, offering work experience to students, selling recycled and upcycled homewares, and raising funds for charities.
Pupils from Forest Bridge School and Manor Green School are involved with the project as well.

Before we broke up for the holidays we were thrilled to be the recipients of some fabulous IT equipment donated by Angus and Sarah Walker directors of Mindcraft IT solutions firm in Bedford.

We are very grateful for this generous donation which will allow more of our pupils to access top quality tech to enhance and inspire their educational journey.

Independent Maidenhead special school shows ‘deep understanding’ of pupils’ emotional needs, inspection finds Beech Lodge School, in Stubbings Lane, caters for children aged seven to 18 years with additional needs including social and emotional difficulties linked to trauma.

We are delighted to announce that following our recent ISI Inspection, we are not only fully compliant in all areas of school life but we have been recognised as a truly outstanding school with a comprehensive multi-disciplinary approach that demonstrates a ‘significant strength’.

It is a rare accolade and we are one of only a handful of schools which has been found to have one of these ‘significant strengths’. It is a testament to the dedication and excellence of our entire school community.

We are delighted to have been selected for inclusion in the Independent Schools Council 2024 Celebrating Partnerships report highlighting the collaborative work we do at the Apprenticeshop with schools such as Manor Green and Forest Bridge.

This report is so important for us as an independent special school and the sector’s messaging about public benefit work, as well as recognising the part that schools like ours play in the whole education system.
