From this week Mr Harris is joining forces with the £2 Tuition Hub https://www.facebook.com/groups/231068348487968 to provide Secondary Maths after school or home school lessons.

This week there are two free taster lessons which are free, then after this, if the students wish there will be 5 weeks of weekly lessons for the cost of £10 for the 5. All of these lessons take place on zoom and students can either join them live or download them afterward to do them in their own time.

The two sessions are as follows:

Monday - 5pm KS3 (Years 7-9 Although Year 6s may still be able to access this)

Thinking Mathematically - ‘When are we ever gonna need this in life’ and other questions

Wishing everyone who has liked this page, watched any of my videos or for whom we become a part of your future a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

In 2022 I hope to record some new series helping students in both primary and secondary. I'll post more in the new year.

Two announcements.

1. I am hoping to record some videos in the next month or so to help with children who are back to school either live or with interactive elements but would love to have comments as to what topic your kids are struggling with (and year group)

2. I have been grinding my teeth recently (In a fun way) seeing basic numeracy questions appearing on Facebook with hundreds of thousands of adults arguing about the answers and getting them wrong. Purely for my own sanity 10 - 10 x 10 + 10 is equal to -80. Following order of operations correctly, it becomes 10 - 100 + 10 which is then -90 + 10 which equals -80. If it is confusing to your or your children that is absolutely fine, I even do some videos on order of operations. I will definitely do another, but it would really help us maths teachers if you can support all students learning this 🙂

Scrumpy: Card Cider 08/04/2021

Good morning all, I know I have been awfully quiet since we all returned to the classroom and I apologise. In between teaching and my beautiful baby metamorphosising into a cheeky toddler all my time has been devoted to launching my first ever board game online.

I hope you don't mind me sharing it here as lots of you have shown interest over the year or so we have been doing online Maths.

Once it is all over I will be back, I promise. With some more Numberside, some online primary lessons and some secondary school support. It won't be as regular as when we were locked down but I look forward to continuing to provide some maths learning.

Scrumpy: Card Cider Scrumpy: Card Cider is an innovative deck manipulation game for 1-4 players where players compete to earn prestige by making cider.

This week's channel offerings have been inspired by Sky channel Dave. Although I'd love the time to make fresh videos every week, for reasons I've already outlined, I cannot afford the time as well as running two businesses and my teaching load which this week has a lot of assessments to mark so this week is repeat week.

Each day I will post the links to two of my classic videos from the channel from the last year and I hope to encourage those who have seen them before to watch again and complete the worksheets as revision, and for those who missed them or weren't old enough first time around, then hopefully, it will feel like a brand new video with a slightly younger-looking Mr Harris.

25/01/2021

As you will have seen from earlier, I have been super busy getting things sorted and built up for Scrumpy's launch in a couple of months time, but that hasn't made me neglect the lockdown learning for everyone.

Here is my timetable for the week. I've switched a couple of classes to 'not live', due to timing issues with my online learning at school so I have to pre-record them but there will be a live premier at that time AND I will endeavour to be in the chat talking to anyone who makes it at the right time.

19/01/2021

Unfortunately there will be no new or live maths school videos this week due to outstanding commitments at school and the upcoming release of my new board game on Kickstarter which has work that needs doing.

I’m sorry to those who enjoy the lessons but remind people that there are now over 300 videos on the channel that can be watched back. I will try to record some videos this week to be released next week so I can get ahead of the schedule and still produce engaging and useful lessons next week.
