A message from Sharon:

“The junior children have been introduced to Yoga and movement to music in Two Tribes this week.

We have been learning breathing techniques to encourage mindfulness and calm. We have been Acing our Sun Salutations using our breath as a guide, warming up our muscles to get ready for more advanced postures. The children have had great fun learning some of the main yoga postures and are particularly excited by challenge of the balances. They have even creatively invented their own postures as well as designing group games to go with them!

What a privilege it has been so far to see how certain postures have inspired each young person uniquely to challenge themselves, take ownership and be creative.” 😊 🧘 đŸŽ¶

A few photos from activities over the past couple of weeks. The juniors made some bird feeders and designed their own fab Father’s Day cards. Yesterday a few of the year 1 children lead a fan making activity to keep us cool in the heatwave!đŸȘ

As well as Sharon being an awesome playworker, she is also a qualified yoga teacher! Sharon will be running sessions through to the end of term to ensure every child that wants to take part has the opportunity to do so. We are lucky that as the hall is an old building, it stays lovely and cool. However, we will still risk assess each day to see if the yoga session is safe to go ahead. Sharon has carefully planned sessions to cover all age groups at the club.

A note from Sharon: “Today we practiced ‘Young Yoga’ to welcome the season of Summer. We always begin each session with breathing techniques to enhance self-awareness and promote calm; today we practiced the Conductor Breath inspired by the story of the Two Tribes Legend. We followed this up with some basic playful warm-ups to ‘charge up’ our bodies; today we did ‘full body tapping’ to wake up the muscles, and ‘switch on’ each body part and glow! We then went on an adventure with bears from all over the world, celebrating the wonders of nature using ‘Something About a Bear’ by Jackie Morris. We practiced a sequence of yoga poses linked to the story such as mountain, tree, half moon, fish, dolphin, plank, boat, warrior poses, leopard, baby cradle. Today we were dazzled by lots of creative expression, brilliant memory skills and impressive balances! Da iawn pawb! :)”

We are proud to share with you our latest CIW inspection report- our first in 8 years! You can read the full report following the link below, but here is the summary:

Children’s well-being at the setting is excellent. They confidently make choices about their play,
moving freely between activities such as small world play, crafts, role play, and construction play. Children express their thoughts and feelings through daily discussions and using a comments box. This encourages children to communicate openly knowing their views are respected and their voices heard.

Staff demonstrate a good commitment to children’s care and development. They have a thorough understanding of safeguarding and consistently encourage good hygiene practices. Staff create a nurturing atmosphere, modelling positive behaviour and encouraging children to take responsibility for themselves and others.

The managers maintain a good, safe, clean, and secure environment. They keep all areas well maintained and secure grant funding, when possible, for the setting. The managers provide a wide range of purposeful resources for imaginative and active play.

Leadership and management team is good. They meet regulatory requirements and maintain up-to-date policies and paperwork. They complete an annual quality of care review, set clear priorities for improvement, and encourage staff development. Managers build positive partnerships with parents and external agencies, ensuring the setting continues to meet the needs of children and families.

Well-being- EXCELLENT
Care & Development- GOOD
Environment- GOOD
Leadership & Management- GOOD

Diolch yn fawr to our wonderful team, to the children who behaved so beautifully and to our supportive parents and carers.

Cerys and Jo.

To celebrate Earth Day the children made these lovely process art pictures. They loved squirting water to make the colours run and using a dish brush to make the stars! 🌎 🌟
