This page has been created for the staff, parents and carers to share information about pre-school.

Here at Whirley Pre-School we aim to provide a fun, caring and secure environment allowing your child to play and learn confidently at their own pace. We are an Ofsted registered Pre-School offering care and education to children aged two and a half to four years. There are lots of opportunities to take part in a wide range of activities and fun events, all of which are planned in line with the early years foundation stage.

We've ended the day here Whirley Pre-School with a lovely story. The story is full of rhyming and patterns which prompted our children to have fun exploring rhymes with their own names....we had some very funny answers 🤣 play with rhyming sounds is lots of fun 😊

Even the rain doesn't stop us getting outside here , we put on our waterproofs and wellies and went outside to play. We practiced filling and pouring, and even made our own water slides. We had so much fun 😄

As part of child safety week, our grown-ups arranged for a fire engine to come to visit us. As it was so big it couldn't fit in our car park so we took a trip to the car park at the park to meet it there. As we arrived the flashing blue lights came on which we found really exciting. The fire crew gave us a tour of the engine from the outside, showing us all the tools and equipment, and explaining all the different jobs they do. We then got to be lifted up and go inside the cabin where the fire crew sit, before coming back out the other side and lifted back down. We then got to see how the hoses work, and because we are super lucky we all got to have a go at operating the hoses ourselves. We all had so much fun seeing (as one of our children said) a real real fire engine. 🚒🤩

Today we have been exploring coloured gloop today, using our hands to feel the texture, exploring the changes that happen when we touch it and using brushes to make marks in it.

This afternoon we have offered cotton buds for the children to free paint with. Small tools are great for fine lines and spots and help support grip strength.

Today we made our own snack....cheese sandwiches. We buttered two pieces of bread, added some cheese, put the bread together and then cut our sandwiches into two pieces. What a super job we all did 🤩.

What a wonderful activity to finish half term on, we hope you all have a wonderful week off in the sunshine 🌞 and we will see you all again from Monday 1st June.

Some days are made for playing games and that's exactly what the children have been doing today. Playing board games helps us to develop our social skills, turn taking skills and our memories too!
