First Steps Nursery is located within the Calvary Church on Merebrook Road, Macclesfield. We value the abilities and achievements of each individual child, and are committed to providing the best possible environment for learning and development in their Early Years.We currently have places for up to 17 children per day aged from 2 to 5 years.We are open Term Time only, Monday-Friday 8am to 3.30pm.

🍌 Banana Milkshake Fun! 🥛

This morning, we put on our little chef hats and made our very own banana milkshake! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

First, we carefully peeled our bananas and chopped them into smaller pieces. We then added the banana to the milk and watched as we used the blender to mix all our ingredients together. We loved watching the bananas whizz around and turn into a delicious, creamy milkshake! 🍌🥛

Finally, it was time for the best part… tasting our creation! 😋 Our banana milkshakes were super yummy, and we thoroughly enjoyed our tasty treat.

We had lots of fun practising our food preparation skills, exploring how ingredients change when mixed together, and developing our independence.

Our Friday Adventure to Macclesfield! 🚌🚂

On Friday, we decided to hop on the local bus and head into Macclesfield town centre for a little adventure!

Our first stop was Macclesfield Train Station. We were so impressed by how clean, tidy and lovely the station looked after its refurbishment. We enjoyed watching the trains arrive and seeing passengers coming and going. The train drivers even gave us a wave! 👋🚆 We loved watching them and waving back.

Next, we tackled lots and lots and LOTS of steps! 🥾 We had quite a climb, but we kept going and made our way to St Michael’s Church, where we stopped to enjoy a little snack and have a rest. ⛪

Once we had finished our snack, it was time to make our way back down to the bus station and catch the bus back to nursery.

What a wonderful day of exploring our local community! We enjoyed travelling on public transport, watching the trains, climbing all those steps and spending time together on our little adventure. ❤️

💛 A heartfelt thank you from First Steps Nursery 💛
It is with incredibly heavy hearts that we share the sad news of First Steps Nursery closing its doors after 30 very special years.

For three decades, we have had the absolute privilege of caring for, nurturing and watching so many wonderful children grow. To all of our past and present families, we want to say a truly massive thank you. Every child who has walked through our doors has left a special little footprint in our hearts, and they will always hold a very special place in our memories. 🥰

We have been completely overwhelmed by the kindness, love and support we have received since sharing the news. To everyone who has taken the time to send us a message, reach out, share a memory or simply let us know how much First Steps has meant to you — thank you from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️

The support from our parents, past and present, has meant more to us than we could ever put into words. Knowing that First Steps has been such an important part of so many children's early years is something we will always be incredibly proud of.

Although this is the end of a very special chapter, we will carry 30 years of precious memories, laughter, friendships and little faces in our hearts forever.

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your children's lives. It has truly been our privilege.

We wish all of our wonderful children, families and friends nothing but happiness, success and all the very best for the future. 💕

🚒🔥 Firefighter Fun! 🔥🚒
This morning we enjoyed listening to the story Flashing Fire Engines before having a very exciting visit from Macclesfield fire station! 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒

The children were absolutely thrilled to meet the firefighters and explore the fire engine. We even had a go with the hose and water 💦 and got to hear the sirens go off! 🚨

After our visitors left the fun continued as we became firefighters ourselves! The children used their imaginations to recreate their own firefighting adventures, working together to rescue, help and keep everyone safe. ❤️

A huge thank you to the firefighters for such a wonderful and memorable visit! 🚒👩‍🚒👨‍🚒

🌳🚶‍♀️ We had a lovely time out and about in our local area today! We enjoyed a walk to the local park, where we had lots of fun exploring and enjoying the fresh air. 🌿😊
After all that exploring, we headed to the local bakery and picked up some yummy cakes to enjoy at snack time. 🧁🍰 They were absolutely delicious! 😋

🌿✨ Exciting day yesterday as our brand-new mud kitchen arrived! 🪣🍃
The children have already been busy mixing, stirring, scooping and creating all sorts of wonderful mud recipes! There was lots of imaginative play, rich language and, of course, plenty of messy fun. 🥄🤎

It’s been fantastic to see the children working together, sharing ideas and developing their communication skills through play.

We can’t wait for many more muddy adventures! 🌱👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

We read That’s Not My Hedgehog and explored the different textures in the book, looking, feeling and touching all the different features. We repeated the word “hedgehog” together and then got creative by making our own hedgehogs using playdough and sticks we had collected from outside. It was a lovely sensory and hands-on activity that encouraged language, creativity and fine-motor skills.
