📦✨ Who knew two boxes of interesting objects could inspire so much writing?! ✏️

Sometimes the simplest resources lead to the best learning!

This week, two boxes filled with interesting objects sparked lots of imagination, discussion and some fantastic sentence writing! 💭

🌟 Year 2 – Using the objects to create sentences with the coordinating conjunctions and, but and or, helping to extend their ideas and make their writing more interesting.

🌟 Years 5/6 – Taking things a step further by developing more detailed sentences and incorporating relative clauses using who, which, that and whose.

Same resources, different levels of challenge, and lots of opportunities for creativity! 🙌

I love how a few everyday objects can make grammar meaningful, hands-on and engaging. ❤️

✏️ Spelling practice, but make it FUN! 🎲🎯

Lots of fun with spellings this week, using Literacy Avenue fantastic year group common exception word cards! 🌟

From rolling dice and spinning wheels to a little friendly competition, we’ve been finding lots of ways to make spelling practice hands-on, engaging and enjoyable!

💡 Repetition is key when learning spellings, but who says it has to be boring?

A few simple games can turn spelling practice into something children actually WANT to do! 🙌

When your Home Ed student asks if we can start Halloween this week… 🎃👻

But we’ve still got FOUR sessions to go before Halloween! 😂

So we’re easing in gently… 🍂
Autumn leaves ✔️
Pumpkins ✔️
A little hint of spooky ✔️

Plenty of time to build up to the full Halloween madness! 🎃👻🕷️

But I need to know… is it TOO EARLY to start Halloween learning, or is it NEVER too early? 🎃😂

Tell me which camp you’re in below! 👇

It’s always so lovely to receive feedback from children and parents after starting one of our groups 🥰

Joining a new group can sometimes feel a little daunting, so knowing that a child has come away feeling happy, comfortable and excited to come back really does mean so much 💛

Building confidence, making learning enjoyable and creating a space where children feel relaxed enough to have a go is always at the heart of our sessions.

Such lovely messages to receive ✨

👾 These monsters have been a BIG hit with my students this week!

Such a fun, hands-on way to get them thinking about vocabulary and deciding which word class each word belongs to. So much discussion, reasoning and learning without it feeling like work! 🙌

Thanks for another fab resource! 💛

When your Year 6 maths group want to use the Barbie UNO cards… there’s only one thing to do! 💕🎀

✨ Barbie UNO + rules of divisibility ✨

Pick a card, test the number and work out which divisibility rules it follows! Maths practice disguised as a game? Always a win! 🙌

✨ 10 minutes, LOTS of learning! ✨

From Year 2 right through to Year 6, my students have really enjoyed using these brilliant 10-minute teasers from 🙌

I’ve used them during 1-1 sessions, both face-to-face and online, and they’re such a great way to get children thinking, talking and recapping key English skills.

They always generate lots of chatter and discussion — including working out collective nouns. Did you know a group of zebras can be called a dazzle of zebras? 🦓✨ Definitely one we’ll remember!

A fun, quick way to squeeze lots of learning into just 10 minutes 💛

🐸 Jumping frogs + pronouns = a LOT of fun! 🐸

Our Year 4 English group had great fun getting to grips with pronouns this week – with a little help from some jumping frogs! 😂

Lots of jumping, lots of laughter and, most importantly, lots of pronoun practice! 🙌🐸

I absolutely love finding resources that make learning fun, engaging and accessible for my students, and both of these amazing brands fit so perfectly with the way I teach.
