How we kept cool yesterday 😎 🔥 🥵

Providing lots of opportunities for Water play in every space, shaded spots with the use of indoors and the tent.
And of course the swimming pool!!!!!!
Which is where the fun never ended, the added use of the hose pipe to create a shower effect which was the perfect opportunity for laughter and fun with our friends.

One of activities this morning concentrated on sharing thoughts on 'What we see on our way to school?'
"I see cars and lots of people, we have to stop at the traffic lights too"
" Sometimes i walk there and sometimes we go in the car"
"I see the buses too taking everybody to work and school"
Creating positive thoughts and story sharing as some of our friends prepare for their transition to school.
We also had a lovely visitor from a teacher working in partnership to help support a child with their transition. An opportunity to share things we like, show off our strengths and talk about what we are working on. This was also a moment to listen and hear all the wonderful things we have to look forward to at 'Big School' such as "Dinsosaurs"
"Building blocks" "Scissor activities" and a "large playground" to run around in.

We have also had a special delivery for our Pre Schoolers - New books to take home from 'Bookstart' with activities. ❤️

A different style of painting for the artists 🎨 ✨️
Usually on a Tuesday afternoon we would go to forest school but with the thunder ⛈️ and lightning 🌩 along with a shower of hail was definitely the weather to stay in.(I know right, we stayed in from the weather 😆)
Instead we turned our table upside down, wrapped it with cling film and got the paints out.
We used the table sides to pretend they were our windows and discussed what we see when we look through.
We opened up the doors wide to listen to the hail but then the thunder ⛈️ began and it was just a little too loud for some of us to enjoy.
But for the children to observe the weather through the window and not just see but hear too was an opportunity to enjoy whilst it lasted.
Observing the flashes in the sky and listening to the loud bangs of thunder.

Soft play Wednesday!!!!!
And what a great idea that was because the rain came tumbling down once again.
Now we don't mind rain whatsoever, In fact usually we embrace the rain because it means lots of puddle splashing and catching raindrops.
However, I think we have had more than our fair share of rain recently and it wasn't just a drizzle let's face it.

Soft play was the perfect place to keep warm and dry and enabled us to climb, run, jump, build and of course make use out of the play mats and show off our role poly skills and acrobats.

Let's make our teeth squeaky clean. 🪥 😬
Using our pens we created teeth not so shiny.
Discussing foods and drinks that are healthy for our teeth and those not so good foods and drinks.
We then used our hand muscles to squeeze the toothpaste onto our toothbrushes to make the teeth super clean once again.
The children used water to wash their toothbrushes in between and used a face cloth to dry the mouths after!
Just like we do ourselves at home.

Supporting independence in self care tasks.

Today we made playdoh, and the chosen colour this week was 'purple'
Our number cutters came out along with a variety of tools. We created our own named mat and our older child was able to mould each letter to their name,whilst out younger one enjoyed using the tools and observing the effect.

These next coming weeks our focus for our older children is preparing for transitions to school.
This doesn't mean embedding the discussion of 'school' For some children this can be an exciting time but for others this can be anxious time.
By 'School readiness' this is enjoying simple tasks to prompt independence such as putting on own shoes, taking off shoes, independently attending personal care, un******ng and dressing tasks, brushing teeth, using tools safely such as scissors. Recognising their own name and having an awareness of letter formations.
If there is one thing a teacher would appreciate it would be 'independent human beings'
In a class of at least 20 children getting ready for P.E you can only imagine the task if they need to support all 20 children.
I have always encouraged independence here from such a young age beginning with simple tasks such as wiping own face after meals, washing hands using a step in the kitchen before meals and after certain activities. I can proudly say all 7 children attending are all able to participate in such tasks and know the routine extremely well.
Please spend these upcoming weeks working with your children in a positive and fun way.
Make a game , have a race to get ready, use timers and rewards.
All of the older children should now have a copy of school readiness, please use this to support your children as 'guidance' -You know your children best.

I will be sending out a 'school bag' from next week for the older children with some lovely stories to share at home.

Comparing weights, understanding how we can make equal amounts,what happens to the scales when we add more, filling to the lines and finding fun ways to use our tools of course.
The children were able to work out that if a pom pom becomes stuck inside the funnel the best way to get it out is to 'Blow' and it doesn't just come out "it's flies out" which was very fun!

Today your child will come home with their 'Wildlife Trust pack'
The children have already made a start by using the stickers to decorate their plant pots.
The job for the weekend is too fill their pots with compost and plant the seeds provided.
Each child has their own passports with ideas on how to look after wildlife and encourage the wildlife to come and visit you.
Creating bird baths in your garden and placing bird feeders around encourages the birds to come and visit allowing wonderful opportunities to observe the birds closely and monitor which birds stop by.

Our happy learners this morning.
Keeping busy as we look at shapes and identify which ones we can name.
Using our magnetic robots to build,create and collect the numbers.
Then the determination of our little as i set the challenge to see if she can post the lollipop sticks into the tin.
Lots of resilience and determination can lead to.... challenge acomplished ✔️

A morning filled with independent learning.
Refining our skills as we use scissors to follow and cut on the lines as we snip the mermaids hair.
Using our threading needles and ribbon to sew the first letter of our name!
And then there's hand and eye coordination, concentrating on task to see which objects fit and problem solving.
Maths in the mermaid tray as we get more familiar recognising our numbers and understanding the value. 🧜‍♀️
