And just like that, it is time for us to say goodbye 🥺❤️
Yesterday was the end of an era.
It was the last day that our beloved (if slightly old) Pre-school building would have children in it. It was the last time all of the Pre-school ladies would be in it together. It was the last party in there, the last time music will be played in there and the last time those walls will be filled with children's smiles and giggles.
Yesterday marked the last time that St. Johns Pre-school Macclesfield will be a charity Pre-school on the grounds of school.
Yesterday also marked the end of one journey and the start of a new one. As of September, St. John's Pre-school is partnering with St. John the C of E primary school to deliver Early Years education in their new Early Years department. All of the ladies and all of Pre-schools belongings are making the move over to school to join their new journey of delivering amazing education and care from the ages of 2-11 years, along with wraparound care.
To say that tears were shed yesterday would be an understatement and it wasn't just from the ladies but from many of the parents. However, they were happy tears. Tears of pride for our big boys and girls getting ready to head to big school. Tears of joy at how far all of our children have come in their personal journeys at Pre-school. And tears of care and love over the family connections we have made ❤️ But, a few tears were for the fact that our Pre-school building will no longer be a home from home to 8 wonderful ladies, and home to many children anymore. The end of an era!
Today also marks the end of another era. This is the last post we will be making on this page. As of September, we will be using tapestry to communicate images with parents. Therefore, it seems fitting that our last post and pictures is of these ladies ❤️
I would like to personally thank Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Massey, Miss Fairbanks, Mrs. Cannon, Miss Jasmine, Mrs. Kilburn and Mrs. Corr for being amazing every single day. They show up every single day with so much love, care, amazing ideas, inspiration, laughter and joy in their hearts and give everything to the children and families they care for, day in, day out. It is their names the children tell their families, their faces the children see when they walk in, their knees they sit on when they need a cuddle and their hands they hold ❤️ They are 7 of the most wonderful ladies I have met and they are who make St. John's Pre-school wonderful for so many ❤️
Thank you so much for all of the love and support we have been shown on here for the last 5 years. It has meant the absolute world to us all and we hope you have loved watching our journey from the start of covid when we didn't even know if our doors would ever open again, to now when we have been given is wonderful next opportunity.
Have a wonderful summer and we we will see our wonderful children and families again on 4th September ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you ❤️
Mrs Martin is now hijacking this post as one very important lady is missing from this shout out Mrs. Billington ….for her unwavering dedication and incredible hard work in supporting our preschool community. Her commitment goes far beyond the usual working hours, often giving her time on evenings and weekends to ensure the children, staff, and families are safe, supported, and happy. Mrs. Billington continually goes the extra mile with kindness, care, and a tireless work ethic that does not go unnoticed. We are truly grateful for all that she does—her passion and dedication make a world of difference to us all. 💜

Continuing number week we have been tracing numbers in small group time.
We practised our pencil grip and concentrated on forming the numbers whilst talking about what numbers we see around pre school and what numbers each of us are!
Number recognition is so easy to encourage in every day activities! What numbers can you see in your way into pre school tomorrow?

Last week at Pre-school we did an extra special project that one of the ladies had seen advertised ❤️
A lovely lady named Doreen from a care home in Congleton is turning 100 years old on 26th June and team from the care home are advertising for people to send her cards to celebrate as she has no family.
We decided to tell the children about Doreen and without even suggesting anything, they asked if we could make her a card so thats exactly what we did 🥰❤️
The children spent 2 days using felt pens, stickers, glitter, crayons and ribbon making a beautiful card for Doreen. We talked about how incredible it is to get to 100 years old and how Doreen would receive a special card and letter from King Charles 👑 We also spoke about what we thought Doreen would do for her birthday and the children we so kind and caring saying they wished we could throw her a party 🥳 ❤️
We hope Doreen's card makes it to her safely and she has a wonderful day celebrating ❤️

This week is the start of our new topic, numbers 🥰
The day started off with number recognition activities where we looked to see if children could identify numbers on tokens and pieces of card. We practised our counting upto 20 and talked about how old we all were and some of the guesses for the ladies ages were hilarious 😂
We then started discussing quantities and decided to use something unusual to practice quantities and counting. Mrs.Cannon brought some apples in from her neighbours apple tree and the children were desperate to look at them so we thought we would use them to help with our numbers 🍎
The children were given a pile of apples and different sized containers to fill with them. We then discussed which containers you could fit more apples in and which you could fit less apples in. We then counted out the apples and placed them on the relevant numbers in the number sequence pattern. To finish off this activity, the children pointed to their age number on the floor with the apples on 🍎 12345
Sometimes using different props can make maths more exciting. It is amazing how sonething simple like apples can makes maths and problem solving exiting for children 🥰
We had a brilliant time and were very impressed with the children's counting and number recognition 🥰

What's the best way to stay cool in this weather...
Running away from the hosepipe and playing with ice of course 🧊 💧 🚿
Some ice lollies also help a bit as well 🥰
We have stayed in the shade all day today and had some great fun on schools field under all of the big trees 🌳
It is always challenging with little ones when the weather is so hot, but the ladies have worked so hard today to keep the children as cool as possible whilst still having lots of fun and learning 🥰❤️
