Lytham Tutors is expanding again as demand for our council-commissioned Alternative Provision grows across Lancashire. We’re looking for experienced English & Maths tutors to deliver in-person daytime tuition to young people across Blackburn and the surrounding areas.

Sessions take place in pupils’ homes, community venues and local schools, helping young people who are unable to access mainstream education.

📚 Free GCSE Tuition Award – Year 11 📚

We’re offering a free GCSE tuition place for one local Year 11 student to support them in the run-up to their exams.

Lytham Tutors was founded with one clear aim: to help as many young people as possible access high-quality education and reach their potential.
For this award, money is no object. By removing cost as a barrier, we hope to support a young person who would genuinely benefit from consistent, personalised 1:1 tuition at a crucial stage of their education.

The award includes:
• 1 hour of 1:1 tuition per week
• From February half-term to May half-term
• Support in one GCSE subject (Maths, English or Science)

Nominations are open to parents, carers, teachers and other professionals. Self-nominations are also welcome. All nominations will be treated confidentially.

2025 in Review 📊

Twelve months ago, delivering 2,222 hours of tuition to 143 students felt like a major milestone. By the end of 2025, that level of impact has become our baseline.

Over the past year, we’ve delivered 5,000+ hours of tuition, supported 308 pupils, and grown our team to 35 tutors and staff – more than doubling our delivery and reach in just one calendar year 📈

Growth in 2025 wasn’t just numerical. It was structural.
This year we:
• Opened The Ember Centre, expanding our specialist alternative provision
• Launched a brand new Lytham centre, positioning us strongly for 2026
• Transitioned into a two-centre operation, alongside home-based, community space, and online tuition

Our in-person tuition now operates across a 100km radius, supporting learners continuously from the top of the North West through to South Yorkshire, alongside a growing online provision.

That progress translated directly into outcomes. 2025 delivered our strongest GCSE results to date:
📚 English – 90% pass rate (vs 67% nationally), with 32% achieving grades 7–9
🧮 Maths – 85% pass rate (vs 70.8% nationally), with 16% achieving grades 7–9
🔬 Science – 98% pass rate

Overall, 27.5% of our students achieved grades 7–9, compared with a national average of around 20%.

From scale and infrastructure to staffing and results, 2025 has been a year of tangible, measurable progress. We’re heading into 2026 with momentum, and this is only the beginning 🌟

🔥 Introducing The Ember Centre, Sheffield 🔥

After 10 months of planning, building and teamwork, we are proud to announce the opening of The Ember Centre, our new KS2 and KS3 Alternative Provision in Sheffield.

Led by our new Sheffield Area Manager, Christian, The Ember Centre has been carefully developed to provide a safe, nurturing and inspiring environment for young people with SEND and SEMH needs. Christian has played a key role in bringing the centre to life, helping to shape a setting that truly puts relationships, inclusion and wellbeing at its heart.

We are especially proud to be supporting and specialising in Sheffield’s Roma community, who are often overrepresented in alternative provision, by offering inclusive education that celebrates culture, builds confidence and reignites a love for learning.

🌟 GCSE Results 2025 – Our Best Year Yet! 🌟

We’re proud to share that, this year, our students have gone even further than in 2024, improving on every single result:

📚 English: 90% pass rate (up from 88% last year, national 67%) with 32% at grades 7 to 9 (national 18.4%)

🧮 Maths: 85% pass rate (up from 83.5% last year, national 70.8%) with 16% at grades 7 to 9

🔬 Science: 98% pass rate (up from 91% last year 🌟)

Overall, 27.5% of our students achieved grades 7 to 9, compared with a national average of around 20%.

These results reflect the hard work of our students and the dedication of our tutors. We are delighted to celebrate their success and grateful to the families who supported them along the way 🥳

You may remember our post earlier this year summarising the 2024 calendar year, where we delivered 2222 hours of tuition to 143 students and welcomed 18 brilliant new tutors 👏

We’re now looking back at the 2024/25 academic year, and the growth has been incredible. Since September, we’ve supported 248 students and delivered over 4072 hours of tuition. That’s an 83% increase in hours and a 73% rise in student numbers in just nine months 📈

Our team of 33 tutors now supports learners through both in-person and online delivery. In-person tuition takes place across a 100km radius in the North West and South Yorkshire 📍 Our online tutoring continues to grow internationally, bringing together a diverse and experienced team 🌍

GCSE results are just a few weeks away. We’re hopeful they will mark another milestone in what has been our most impactful year yet 🎓
