A little mud can lead to some brilliant discoveries! 🌱🤎

We’re Saying Yes to Mud this week, giving children plenty of opportunities to get stuck in, explore and use their imaginations.

From mixing muddy pies to discovering what happens when soil meets water, there’s so much to investigate through play. Our educators follow the children’s curiosity, encouraging them to experiment, ask questions and see what they discover. 🪱

Say Yes to Mess! 🎨🌿

Mud on knees, paint-covered fingers, sand in shoes and water everywhere. It might look like mess, but for children it can be an experiment, an adventure, a work of art or a new discovery.

We’ve launched The Mess Report, new research exploring how families feel about messy play and whether children today are getting enough opportunities to experience it.

After speaking to 1,000 UK parents of children under 10, we found that 79% agree messy play supports children’s development, creativity and wellbeing, yet 70% believe children today don’t get enough opportunities to get messy.

We’re calling this The Mess Gap.

The Mess Report explores what might be behind that gap, why opportunities to pour, squash, mix, dig, build, splash and create are so valuable, and how we can make more space for them in childhood.

At Kids Planet, we’re proud to say Yes to Mess because we know there is method in the mess, and behind every muddy handprint and paint splatter is an opportunity for learning.

Preschool had a little trip to the post box this morning after creating letters to Disneyland, a birthday card for the King and then some Lytham postcards for our new Kids Planet nurseries in Wales. We're excited to see if we get any correspondence back from our letters.

This week in preschool has been wonderful as we delved into our post office role play and expanding on this on our trip to the Lytham post office. The children realised that post offices do much more than just sell stamps; they explored money exchange and even learned about applying for a passport! We discussed the weights of different objects, how to measure their weight, and looked at the various shapes required for sending items in different envelope sizes. We also received some lovely stamps and special envelopes from the postmaster to enrich our role play!

🍦 Welcome to Rising Threes Ice Cream Parlour! 🍦

Today in Lower Pre-School, we explored our interest in ice cream by creating our very own ice cream parlour. The children enjoyed taking turns being customers and servers, ordering and serving ice creams to their friends.

As they played, the children developed their fine motor skills by carefully scooping the ice cream. They also used their mathematical skills to count and compare the number of scoops they were serving. Through this imaginative role-play experience, the children practised communication, turn-taking, and early number skills while having lots of fun together! 🍨😊

As its national biscuit day on Friday we got invited to decorate biscuits at Sticky bakery at the Park View venue what an exciting time we had Hannah greeted us with a lovely biscuit and a piping bag and showed us an example on how to use and then helped us if we struggled and made our piping bag bigger we also tasted a little bit of our biscuit....
They tasted amazing 😀🍪
