📖✨ THE WORLD BELONGS TO YOU. THAT'S WHAT STORIES ARE FOR.

Words from children's author and Children's Laureate Frank Cottrell-Boyce, shared during today's Take 10 to Read event.

And what wonderful words they are.

Stories give children something extraordinary.

🌍 The freedom to explore places they've never visited.

✨ The courage to imagine things that don't yet exist.

📚 The opportunity to discover different lives, perspectives and possibilities.

❤️ And sometimes, the comfort of finding themselves in the pages of a book.

Reading isn't simply about learning new words or becoming a better reader.

It's about curiosity, imagination, empathy and discovering just how big the world can be.

Frank also shared another lovely message:

“Find a book that you love.”

Because when a child discovers a book they genuinely love, reading becomes something they want to do, rather than something they have to do.

And that can make all the difference.

📚 TEN MINUTES. ONE WORLD. THOUSANDS OF STORIES. 🌍

Today, TeachMy joined readers around the world for a very special Guinness World Records™ attempt – the most people reading together online over 12 hours!

Organised by the National Literacy Trust and the British Council, the event brought readers together as part of the National Year of Reading 2026 and the campaign.

📖 Our book of choice?

A wonderfully mischievous choice for our ten minutes of reading!

For ten minutes, readers around the world stopped what they were doing, opened their books and shared something special – a love of reading.

Because reading isn't just about words on a page. It's about imagination, adventure, laughter, discovery and finding a little time to escape into another world.

👏 A HUGE WELL DONE TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART!

Whatever the final record result, being part of something that celebrates reading on a global scale is wonderful.
