We had a lovely start to the new term, we said ‘hello’ to our new families, and the children enjoyed exploring the new equipment, especially the new Pirate ship 🏴‍☠️
We got stuck in with the messy play, making our lovely creations, and noticing some colour mixing made different colours.
We also found a ladybird in the garden, well remembered 🙂

This week we had the bee man 🐝come to visit us to tell us about bees and how they make their families and then search for nectar/pollen to make honey. We asked lots of questions too. The bee man gave us some wax from the hive and also a lovely pot of honey to take home 😋
We made some bunting for Vincent to welcome him home from GOSH as he has had his surgery ( mum tells us he is doing well 🙂)
We had homegrown cucumber to try, and we all liked this 😋
And this week we said goodbye to our risers as they are off to their reception classes in September. We are very proud of them and wish them well on their new adventures 😘

This week we had some special visitors for our enrichment sessions. We had the music man come to visit and he played some instruments for us, he played the double bass and the electric bass. We listened to the sound of the double bass and it was quite loud ( not to much though ) and then we all had a turn to make sounds and feel the vibrations it made. We then listened to the electric bass, the grown up plugged it into a thing called an amp, and this made it really loud. When we played this, some of us said it sounded like thunder.
Molly from KCC tooth cleaning program came for a visit, and we showed her how well we cleaned our teeth, she was very impressed with us.
And finally we were lucky to have a special florist/horticulturist visit, to show us how to do some flower arranging. This lady and her team won silver gilt at the Chelsea flower show 🌸 We listened well to the rules and followed the instructions. We made some really lovely flower arrangements to take home to show our family.

This week we had lots of flora and fauna to explore. We had lots of smells to smell and lots of textures to feel, we especially like the mint, followed closely by the lavender. After lunch we took the magnifying glasses out for a closer look at our vegetation, we noticed some small bugs that had made their home in it, and later we found a big caterpillar, but we didn’t get to close to that one, we let adult move it to safety. We did some bubble painting and some of us got lost in the sensory experience.
We watched the big school children doing their sports day ….getting tips for next year!
Our runner beans are big enough for us to take home to grow on.
We had a lovely time in the cool, playing with the train track, making it go around our animals in the countryside.
And the very satisfactory water play to keep us even cooler.🙂

What a hot week it has been, so we had lots of water and ice play 💦🧊
We found another bug in the garden( we are getting really good at spotting them now, this one was a moth( a nighttime butterfly 🥰)
We picked some of our homegrown strawberries and gave them the taste test…and it was a 👍🏼
We did some paint blowing with straws, then just continued with painting and creating.
A few weeks ago we went to see some duck eggs in an incubator…. this week we visited again, and now they are DUCKLINGS!!! 😳🥰we sat in with them and saw them eat their watermelon and peas, we even managed a cheeky cuddle. We saw Stella again, but she quickly went back off to the shade.
We made some fans( by helping grown ups fold paper) to help cool us down too.

This week we made our summer tree, we have now finished our tree through all the seasons, we liked the autum tree and the spring tree the best.
We tried pomegranate seeds this week, and surprisingly we all liked them 😋
It has been hot this week so we have had lots of water play in the garden. We used soapy water and sponges to wash our cars and see-saws, and we did some magic painting with water and paintbrushes.
We also released our butterflies, having watched the grow from tiny caterpillar, change into chrysalis and then into beautiful butterflies 🦋

This week we started our teeth cleaning program. We practiced on the pretend teeth, then we brushed our own teeth (after lunch) using the timer to know how long we needed to brush them.
Our caterpillars have turned into chrysalis, so we have transferred them into the net to wait for them to turn into butterflie. We enjoyed talking about our butterflies and some of us have butterflies at home and showed us a picture of them releasing theirs. We got all creative and. add our own symmetrical butterflies to take home. We chose the colours we wanted our butterflies to be, and after adult modelled painting one side and then folding the paper over, we listened, watched and copied really well 🙂
We found a stag beetle in our garden, and after we had a look at it, we set it free.
We also found out ( by chance) as we measured our arms( and then our legs) that we all have one longer than the other. We found out that it is because one of our sides that we use most, has more muscle mass.
This week all our gross motor skills practice came to fruition, resulting in a very successful sports day. We especially loved the vehicles race. 🚴 🚗

This week on our return, we have our caterpillars, they have grown quite a bit already😲 🐛
We made a train track around our farm animals and sang’Old Mc.Donald had a farm’ making animal sounds as we went around following each other. This activity lead to us using our trains in the paint to make our train tracks 🚂
A long time ago we planted our potatoes, we have been very interested in watching the leaves grow very big. We decided it was time to have a look and see if we have got any potatoes, and e had loads. We helped dig them up and put them in the saucepan. We took them inside and washed them and the grown up put them on the hob to boil. We all had a taste and only one of us didn’t like them, some of us had some more 😋
We also can’t wait for our strawberries to turn red so we can taste them 🍓

This week was national sandwich week, so we treated ourselves by making our own sandwich. We chose the filling we wanted, buttered our bread, added our filling. Then we ate them for snack 😋
We had Molly from the KCC toothbrushing program come to give us some training and showing us how to care for our teeth 🦷
We did lots of counting this week, and we especially liked using the bees.
