Next page of my Asian Art Journal, part 1, India.

This double page is to represent the chaos of a typical “Delhi” commute, (notice the play on words!). Not all seen at once of course, and the elephant was in a restricted area, but hopefully this gives an artist’s impression of the mayhem that happens every day on these roads.

Painted in watercolour, with coloured pencil and pen overlay and details, with a smidgeon of salt, inside the illustration are various modes of Indian transportation….camel, elephant, tuk tuk, cycle rickshaw, motorcycle.

Mainly from our photographs, but the motorbike, difficult to get a good picture as generally they were moving.
A family of FIVE on the bike… Dad driving, Mum side saddle on the back seat, two little girls with her and, on the petrol tank a further little girl. But look who’s got the helmet.

Soooo excited to see the launch of The Somerset Dragon on Saturday in the smallest city in England, Wells. Our daughter, Serin, will be doing a live reading of her lovely book, “The Tail of the Somerset Dragon” and the whole event is free!

If you aren’t able to make that, the beautiful 2 metre high dragon will be touring Somerset from now until Somerset Day, May 11th, so try to catch it somewhere on its journey. Serin’s book will be on sale at each event or, if you’re local to me, I have a box of them for sale, which will save you postage!

THE ROARING TWENTIES
“Annes Folles” -“The Crazy Years”

I am SO excited to share this incredible theme and projects with you! We started this theme last week and already have a myriad of drawings, paintings, designs, collages and even some ceramics started. This is how I began the theme:

"Firmly situated between the end of World War One and The Great Depression, this was a decade of energetic and optimistic spirit, unlike the world had ever seen before. It was a reaction against the Victorian conservatism, the dramatic trauma of WW1 and the pandemic Spanish flu and, if you had money, there was a determination to enjoy the life you had been spared over the previous six years."

It's not too late to join in this extravaganza! There are two spaces left on my Tuesday morning group and two weeks left.

Do contact me darling if you would like more details.
Toodle pip for now.

“The Roaring Twenties”
Here we have the beautiful Lindsay modelling the latest in 1920’s elegant fashion, perfect for the gal about town.

Take a nostalgic and artistic trip back in time to one hundred years ago in our stunning 1920’s 4 week theme, starting Tuesday, March 10th.

Think flappers, art deco, silent movies, the automobile, old time music halls or the Charleston. Research your own family and portray them in a way never seen before, perhaps in pastels, watercolour, acrylics, collage or even ceramics.

Places available on the Tuesday class only so kindly message the studio to ask for more information, or to enrol.

Kindly share if local, thank you.
