Welcome to Lymington Centre Pre-School where experienced, dedicated, fully trained staff, provide and promote a safe, happy atmosphere focusing on learning through play. We encourage each child to develop and flourish at their own pace, offering a stimulating and nurturing environment, where they can develop emotionally, physically and intellectually. We ensure that each child and their families f

eel welcomed and valued from the moment they enter our room. All our staff recognise and understand, that for a parent choosing a pre-school for their child is of paramount importance. We therefore offer the highest standards of childcare for each and every child, offering them endless opportunities to grow their confidence, self-esteem and help support them through the natural transition to full time education. We embrace the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and apply the four key themes. We are authorised for children aged 2 years to rising 5’s. Early years funding is currently available from the term after your child’s 3rd Birthday, for either 15 hours per week (570 hours per year), or 30 hours per week (1,140 hours per year). We also accept 2 year funding and Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP). We are open from 8.30 am to 3.30 pm 43 weeks a year. Parent Reviews-

To help with writing and strengthening the muscles in the children's hands and wrists, the children have been using therapy putty, which is harder than playdough and has an elastic consistency. When we add marbles to the putty, the children need to work harder to remove them; this requires concentration and perseverance.
Playing with therapy putty offers numerous benefits for children, including:
Strengthening hand muscles: Therapy putty helps improve grip strength, which is essential for everyday tasks like writing, dressing, and using utensils.

Enhancing fine motor skills: Activities involving therapy putty can help develop fine motor skills, which are crucial for tasks such as buttoning clothes and using small tools.

Promoting sensory awareness: The tactile feedback from theraputty can help children learn to identify and differentiate between various sensations, providing a calming effect.

The children have been snipping paper to create their fish. They first went through a variety of different coloured and textured pieces of paper. Once they had cut out the paper they wanted, they started adding thier cuttings to their fish to form their fish's colourful scales, just like the fish in the story 'The Rainbow Fish' by Marcus Pfister.
Using scissors in such a way enhances their hand and finger coordination whilst using their fingers independently, which will help with holding a pen/cil and improving their handwriting skills later on. Since cutting requires holding an object in one hand and the scissors in the other, children learn to balance and coordinate with both hands. Cutting different shapes and types of media helps children understand the differences between them, whilst enhancing their sense of sight. Keeping scissors in a fixed position helps teach a sense of responsibility, discipline and decision-making whilst building self-esteem and confidence. Whilst allowing them to be creative, independent and immerse themselves in art.

The children have been painting dinosaur feet. The children have been loving the dinosaurs, so we added some to the art area for them to paint thier feet and then make dinosaur tracks on their artwork. Our children have been playing at being palaeontologists.

This term encompasses a range of individuals, including:
Field Palaeontologists: Scientists who actively search for and excavate dinosaur fossils in the wild.
Fossil Collectors: Both amateur and professional enthusiasts who find and document dinosaur remains.
Museum Curators: Professionals who preserve, study, and display dinosaur fossils in museums.

🧲Magnatiles🧲

Some of our children have been busy with construction, and last week they used the magnetic tiles, along with our new magnetic ball and rods, to build. Working together with a bit of scaffolding at times, they made a giant ball run. They were all excited and proud of themselves once they got the enormous balls to run around their 'giant marble run'. It was super fun; well done!

The children learnt that magnets are surrounded by an invisible magnetic field. When two magnets are close, they exert a pushing or pulling force on one another. These forces are strongest at the ends of the magnets. The two ends of a magnet are called the north and south poles. Same poles repel: if you try to put two magnets with the same poles facing each other, they will repel. We say they repel each other.

With Spring in the air, it’s the perfect time to get outside and explore. There’s nothing more fun than splashing and frolicking in the water!
Playing with water is not only fun; you may be surprised to learn that it offers many benefits for childhood development, making it one of the most popular activities in early childhood education. As the name suggests, water play involves water and tools such as buckets, containers, and toys that allow children to splash, scoop, pour, submerge, and explore their senses.
In pre-school, water play can involve a water table, a tuff tray, or a large container, where children can stand around and engage in their play. This creates an exciting, social experience for children as they splash, play, and have fun together.
We acknowledge the environment as a teacher. When children engage with their environment and use natural resources in their play, they build their understanding of the world and their place in it, while also developing their knowledge of their ability to influence things. Water play is both fun and educational, offering a range of benefits for children’s social and emotional development, as well as for developing their physical abilities and early literacy and numeracy skills. As an added bonus, children rarely get bored of it!
