👩🏻‍⚕️Can you believe it’s already been a month since VN Spark?
The day was everything I hoped it would be and more.
I felt SO lucky to have had such an incredible line up of RVN speakers.
Topics all inspired by the conversations I’ve had with you here online and what I experience in practice too - I think you’ll all agree that their passion for their subject areas shone through.
It was empowering & inspiring to see just how much of an impact you can have when you embrace your passion/area of interest. We can do so much for our patients, our teams and each other when we collaborate and share our knowledge.
👀✨What were your take homes a favourite parts of the day?✨

Are you going to BVNA congress?

I’ll be there speaking about Pulse Oximetry and Plethysmography! If you would like to learn what this pulse waveform can tell you about your patient… come along!

Hi guys,
I cannot believe it has already been a week since VN Spark 2026!
✨Thank you so much for attending ✨
It genuinely meant the world to me that you were there and made the effort to come along.
You are all my inspiration.
Every inbox message I receive, every conversation I have and every story you share helps shape what VN Spark becomes.
We talk a lot about education, community and connection, but if I'm honest, the community and connection element is the part that matters most to me.
I hope throughout the day you could feel "the vibe" and see just how relaxed and welcoming everyone was.
To me, that's exactly how it should be.
No hierarchy.
No barriers.
Where we work is irrelevant.
What matters is that we all share the same values, goals and passion for making a difference to our patients and advancing our profession.
That's what brings us together and that's what makes this community & my events so special.

I think you'll agree that our guest speakers were incredible.
Serious !
Every single session left me with something to think about, and I've got pages of notes that I'll be taking back into my own practice to share with my team. I hope you came away feeling equally inspired, challenged and empowered. Jill, Andrea, Joseph, Stacey, Claire, Helen, Elle, Courtney, Lyndsay and Nicola have all personally inspired me, so I had absolutely no doubts they wouldn't have the same effect on you!

The exhibition was vibrant, busy and buzzing all day, which was fantastic to see.
The exhibitors told me how engaged you all were and how worthwhile they found the event. As I mentioned on the day, don't be afraid to keep those conversations going. Tell companies what works, what doesn't and what you'd like to see improved. As veterinary nurses, we have a unique perspective, and we can help influence innovation and shape the future of the products and services we use.
A huge thank you to my amazingly supportive sponsors who helped me grow VN Spark to make it a really unique and special day!

🥰One of my favourite parts of the day was finally meeting so many of you in real life after chatting online for months....... and sometimes years!
I'm just sorry that I didn't manage to speak to everyone individually. The day absolutely flew by.
Many of you have suggested a two-day weekend event next time, so leave that with me..... your wish is my command!
I'm going to do my very best to make it happen because I want us all to have more time together too.
And yes... I think we'd need an even bigger and more sparkly party.
And yes... I'll do my best to get the same DJ back because he was absolutely brilliant.

You really are the best bunch of humans.
More than anything, I hope the event achieved what I wanted it to achieve.
✨I hope it inspired you.
✨I hope it empowered you.
✨I hope it gave you new ideas, new connections and renewed confidence in the value of what you do.
Sometimes we all need a pick-me-up, a pep talk and a reminder of our why.
I hope VN Spark gave you a little bit of all three.

Finally, A last reminder......
We are standing at a truly pivotal moment for veterinary nursing.
In fact, I would go so far as to say it is a historic one.
Change is coming, and I genuinely believe it presents an opportunity to strengthen our profession and build an even brighter future.

✨We are ALL a part of it✨

The future of veterinary nursing - change should not happen to us. It should happen with us.

That means all of us have a responsibility to engage, to contribute and to make our voices heard so please do get involved as much as you can!
Thank you again for your support, your enthusiasm, your kindness and for helping create such a special day.

Date for ✨VN SPARK 2028✨ coming soon!

🥰Lou

🚨 New RECOVER Guidelines Are Here!

What should you do when a dog or cat has an emergency before you can reach the veterinary hospital?

The RECOVER First Aid Guidelines provide evidence- and consensus-based recommendations to help recognize emergencies and provide appropriate first aid when minutes matter.

From heatstroke and choking to burns, toxin ingestion, and severe bleeding, these guidelines give veterinary teams practical tools to help prepare the people caring for animals outside the hospital.

Sedation can be more risky than general anaesthesia! There’s no airway protection or means to ventilate if the patient stops breathing.

Good monitoring is essential to catch complications as they happen. I routinely use ECG, BP, SP02 and capnography! I often see periods of apnoea with alpha 2 agonists.

Place the capnograph sampling line as close to the nostrils as possible and inside a good fitting oxygen mask (always, always provide oxygen!). You will be able to monitor respiratory rate and identify apnoea quickly even if the trace is not perfect.
