A member said something to us recently that we haven’t been able to stop thinking about.

They joined us a few months ago with a specific weight loss goal. A target they wanted to hit for a family milestone. By their own admission, they weren’t sure they’d get there - an all or nothing mentality had got in the way before.

They hit the goal. But that’s not the part that stayed with us.

What they said was this - that they never expected the gym to become a place they could just be. Fully present. No mental load. No running through the family schedule, no thinking about work, no sorting everyone else out. Just them, their training, getting stronger, noticing new things their body could do.

An hour that’s become entirely theirs.

That’s the shift that changes everything. Because when training stops being about a number on a scale and starts being about how you feel, how you move, who you are when you walk back out into your life - that’s when it becomes something you don’t want to give up.

Weight loss was the door. This is what’s on the other side of it.

This is what we’re building at Fortitude. Not just results. A space where people can come and genuinely thrive - inside the gym and far beyond it.

Most people have never experienced a PT session that’s actually built around them.

Not just their goals - but how they slept, how they’re moving today, what their body needs right now.

At Fortitude, every session starts before you walk through the door. Your coach already knows what you’re working on, what needs attention, and potentially what today needs to look like.

You arrive. You’re greeted by name. Your coach checks in. The warm-up tells them everything they need to know about how to prescribe the rest of your session. The strength work is chosen for you specifically. And how you finish depends entirely on what’s most valuable for you that day.

You leave better than you arrived. Every time.

That’s not a promise. That’s just what coaching actually looks like.

If you’ve never trained somewhere that works like this, reply TIME and let’s have a conversation.

The fitness industry loves a before and after.

Six weeks. Twelve weeks. A dramatic side-by-side. Job done.

We measure something different here.

This month we’re celebrating members who’ve been training with us for one year, two years, five, seven, even nine.

People who came through the door at some point and just... stayed. Not because they had to. Because something finally felt right.

Some of them had never trained consistently before in their lives. Some had tried everything and written themselves off. Some just needed somewhere that actually met them where they were - not where a programme needed them to be.

That’s the part that gets lost in the transformation-obsessed version of fitness. Real coaching isn’t a six-week sprint. It’s the thing that makes someone feel safe enough to keep showing up. Seen enough to keep going. Supported enough that it stops being a battle and just becomes part of who they are.

Nine years of someone’s life. That’s not a result. That’s a relationship.

To everyone celebrating a gymiversary here- you’re the reason we do this. Genuinely.

Most people who’ve struggled to stay consistent have spent years thinking it’s a personal failing.

Not enough discipline. Not enough motivation. Just not that kind of person.

It isn’t.

What you’re looking at is a group of people who’ve been told their whole lives that they’re not gym people. People who’ve joined and quit, started and stopped, motivated themselves in January and lost it by March.

The difference isn’t them. It’s this.

Coached sessions, a programme that actually progresses, and people around you who make showing up feel like the obvious thing to do.

Consistency isn’t a personality trait. It’s an environment problem.

If you’ve been waiting to find somewhere that finally sticks, the link’s in the bio.

Most people who’ve struggled with consistency have spent years thinking it’s a personal failing. Not enough discipline. Not enough motivation. Just not that kind of person.

This review landed in our inbox this week and it says something we think is worth sharing.

“It’s the most consistent I’ve ever been with training and that’s solely down to the supportive and motivating coaches and welcoming atmosphere. I always leave each session feeling better than I arrived. It’s become somewhere I genuinely look forward to going, and it’s made such a difference both physically and mentally.”

Consistency isn’t a personality trait. It’s an environment problem. When the coaching is right and the atmosphere makes you feel like you belong, showing up stops being a battle.

That’s what we build here.

88 members made the July Consistency Club.

In summer. When the barbecues are on, the schedules go out the window, and every reason to skip is right there waiting for you.

88 people chose to show up anyway. That’s the one.

Weekends Well Lived

This weekend, Fortitude was well represented out there.

Tess and Laura headed to Hereford for the Battle at Apex and delivered exactly what we’d expect - two members on a competition floor, backing themselves and making us proud.

And Dawn took on the Wye Valley Tunnel 10k - one of those events that sounds as brutal as it is brilliant.

Incredibly proud of all three of you. This is what the training is for.

Weekends Well Lived

Yesterday, Tess and Laura headed to Hereford for the Battle at Apex - and they showed up and delivered.

Two Fortitude members. One competition floor. Both representing the gym in exactly the way we’d hope.

We are always proud of both of you.

Last weekend a big chunk of the Fortitude community showed up at Unfazed Fitness - a new local event and one we’ll definitely be back for.

Alison, Rie, Soph, Dawn, Liam, Charlie, Tom, Jason, Emma W, Dave, Dominika, Emma Purv, Emily, Jade and Tess all took on the individual event. First competitions for some, top finishes for others.

But the thing that stands out isn’t the results. It’s the consistency of showing up. Of putting yourself on a start line, in a new environment, and backing yourself anyway. That’s the Fortitude way.

We’re already excited for next year.

I spent the weekend with some of the best coaches in the UK last week through the PFCA.

Here’s what I’m bringing back into every session.

Meet members at their level, not your original expectation. Planning sessions matters - we do it every day. But the real coaching gold lives in what you do when the person in front of you isn’t where you expected. Reading that, adapting to it, and meeting them there - that’s where the difference is made.

Speak less, notice more. The less you speak, the more you notice on the gym floor - and the more value you carry when you do. Banter and connection matter, they’re part of what makes Fortitude what it is. But if your energy is always high, you become white noise. I want the moments I do coach to actually land.

Detached caring. Genuinely invested in someone’s progress, but clear-headed enough to see what they actually need - not what you assumed they’d need.

Use constraints to find the right challenge, not force the right movement. The squat is a good example - moving a member from a front squat to a zercher unlocked a level of challenge they couldn’t access before. The answer was right there. What part of the movement KPI isn’t being hit, and what constraint removes that barrier? Just because something works for me or someone else doesn’t mean it’s right for that person on that day.

Coaching from the outside in. Meeting people where they are, not where the programme expects them to be.

This is what I owe our members at Fortitude. And I’m just getting started.
