We’ve had Paul doing plenty of jobs around the Wycliffe Rooms over the years.

Setting up rooms. Moving tables. Sorting the air con. Probably wondering why Kevin has asked him to do something else.

But apparently he has another talent…
Robbie Williams. 😳

🌸 THE FLOWERS HAVE GONE WALKABOUT… AGAIN.

We really don’t want to have to keep writing posts like this, but unfortunately our replacement flowers have now disappeared from the ladies’ toilets.

Yes, the replacement ones. 🤦‍♂️

We’ve previously had items taken from around the building, and while we appreciate that a small bunch of artificial flowers might seem like a fairly insignificant thing, constantly replacing things that have been stolen is both frustrating and, for a small business, genuinely heartbreaking.

We spend a lot of time and money trying to keep the Wycliffe Rooms looking welcoming and pleasant for everyone who uses it.

So if you’ve somehow acquired a new floral arrangement for your bathroom at home, we’d really appreciate its safe return. 🌸

And if anyone knows where our flowers have gone, please let us know.

We'd quite like to keep the next ones. 🙏

This weekend we have an incredible Autumn Fair visiting the Wycliffe Rooms!

There will be a plethora of Artisan Crafters, and there really will be something for everyone.

Why not pop down and take a look, maybe you can bag yourself some early Christmas presents?

Entry is FREE, and the fayre will be open from 12pm - 4pm.

📰 A LITTLE PIECE OF WYCLIFFE HISTORY…

You never quite know what you’re going to find when you start pulling a building apart.

As part of our ongoing renovation works, we’ve uncovered this rather remarkable newspaper from 1963 — tucked inside the wall and apparently being put to work as a bit of insulation by the builders at the time.

And somehow, 63 years later, it’s still in surprisingly good condition!

The front page gives us a fascinating little glimpse into the world of 1963 — from the stories making the headlines to the adverts and the way newspapers looked and felt back then.

It’s easy to forget that buildings like the Wycliffe Rooms have been standing through decades of change, with countless people passing through their doors. Every now and then, something like this turns up and gives us a tiny glimpse into the building’s past.

We’re not sure what the builders in 1963 would have made of modern insulation… but at least they had the Daily Mirror. 😂

One thing’s for certain — we definitely didn’t expect our renovation works to include a history lesson!

We’ll be keeping this little piece of the Wycliffe’s past safe. ❤️

🎓 A LITTLE BIT OF VERY GOOD NEWS FROM THE WYCLIFFE ROOMS

We’re delighted to share some fantastic news about one of our team members.

After working with us at the Wycliffe Rooms for years and years, Isabelle is leaving the team to pursue her career as a solicitor! ⚖️

We’re incredibly proud of her and all the hard work she’s put in to get to this point. Although we’re incredibly disappointed to lose her, we’re excited to see what her future holds.

We’ve absolutely loved having Isabelle as part of the Wycliffe team, and we’re sure you’ll all join us in wishing her every success in her new career.

Although we suspect the days of making coffee and putting chairs away may be slightly less glamorous than what she has planned… 😂
