Before anyone panics, we promise the Christmas decorations are not going up in August! 😂

We were very kindly gifted some new Christmas decorations, so we've been getting them sorted, checked and safely packed away ready for the festive season.

Paul, however, appears to have misunderstood the assignment…

Within minutes, he'd transformed himself into the Wycliffe Rooms' newest Nutcracker and was standing guard over the coffee shop. 🫡😂

We're not quite sure what he's guarding against, but we're fairly confident nobody is getting past him without a mince pie.

The decorations are now safely packed away for a few months.

Paul, unfortunately, may take a little longer to put back in the box. 😂🎄

Throwback SIX YEARS ago to when our little coffee shop at Wycliffe Rooms looked more like a building site than somewhere you’d come for a latte! 😂🧱

Walls were up… windows were in… tables were placed optimistically… and let’s just say “cosy finished vibe” was still very much a work in progress! 🚧

Fast forward to today — and look at us! From dust, concrete and big dreams… to a thriving, buzzing coffee shop we’re so proud of! ☕💛

Who’d have thought this empty shell would become a favourite spot for coffee, cake and chats?

It looks like Mum has been let loose on the blue screen again… and she’s decided that Robbie Williams is the next big thing at the Wycliffe Rooms! 😂💙

No... we haven't completely lost the plot.

We've decided to get into the Halloween spirit early this year, and this absolute UNIT of a spider has crawled into the Wycliffe Rooms.

The good news? It doesn't bite.

The even better news? It could be yours!

🎟️ Raffle tickets are just £1 each, with all proceeds going towards our replacement fire alarm fund.

Someone is going to walk away with an 84cm Keel Toys giant spider... much to the delight (or horror) of everyone else in their household.

🚧 As our essential building works continue behind the scenes, Jamie has decided that morale is just as important as manpower.

After watching at least half an episode of a management programme on TV, he's unveiled his latest motivational technique...

Apparently, dressing as a chicken is how you inspire the team to "keep pecking away" at the job. 🐔

We're not entirely convinced it's covered in any official management handbook, but you can't fault the commitment.

The work is progressing well... although we're still trying to work out whether we've hired a facilities assistant or a free-range regional manager.

One thing's for certain... there's never a dull day at the Wycliffe Rooms! 😂

This morning we shared some of the essential fire safety improvements currently taking place at the Wycliffe Rooms. We were genuinely overwhelmed by your kind words, encouragement and support. Thank you.

Many people have been asking how they can help, so we've set up a GoFundMe page.

These works aren't glamorous. They won't give us a shiny new coffee machine or a fresh coat of paint. They're the behind-the-scenes improvements that most people will never notice... but they're absolutely essential to keep the building safe, compliant and open for the community.

We are home to numerous community groups, charities, businesses and events every single week. From coffee meetings to weddings, fitness classes to children's activities, this building means something to so many people.

👷 You may have noticed we've been a little quieter than usual on social media this week...

That's because we've been busy behind the scenes carrying out some essential improvement and maintenance works around the Hall.

These jobs an important part of keeping the building safe, welcoming and in great condition for everyone who uses it.

Every day we're balancing the day-to-day running of the venue with ongoing improvements around the building, helping to ensure the Wycliffe Rooms continues to serve the community for many years to come.

After painting them, wiring them, testing them, fitting every single bulb...
..the 9 decided it wanted "cool white" while the 0 clearly preferred "warm white."

Apparently even giant numbers have different personalities. 🙄😂

🎉 We're Reopening! 🎉

We're pleased to let everyone know that The Wycliffe Rooms will be reopening tomorrow, Wednesday 8th July, and we can't wait to welcome you back!

A huge thank you to everyone for your patience, understanding, and kind messages over the last couple of days. Your support has meant a great deal to us.

We will have a very reduced food menu whilst we get the kitchens up and running, but who doesn't love coffee and cake for lunch anyway?!

We'll see you from tomorrow! 💙
