New website to promote energy efficiency in the cost of living crisis 19/08/2022

The UK Government has launched a new website to provide advice to homeowners looking to save on their fuel bills. A bit like an MOT for the home, areas covered include loft 7 wall insulation and double-glazing.

The site also provides advice on installing low carbon heating technologies, such as heat pumps and explains how to access government grants of £5,000 towards the cost of installing these new systems.

Installers should direct their customers to the site and help them find ways to reduce fuel bills and improve energy efficiency. https://bit.ly/3QZWaF7

UK heat waves leads to massive spike in air conditioning interest 16/08/2022

The recent heat waves are leading to an increase in demand for air conditioning. We've seen a massive spike in interest in related training. ‘F Gas course’ queries – an essential part of ac training – rose by 129%.

To date, mechanical cooling in the UK has been the preserve of commercial buildings, such as offices and manufacturing facilities, but with the unfortunate grip of global warming clearly taking hold, the marketplace is changing.

According to a report published by BEIS last year, less than 5% of homes in the UK currently have ac, but by the turn of the century it is predicted that 75 – 85% of cooling demand will be domestic.

Increased demand means our F Gas courses are fully booked in the summer, so why not train this winter when classrooms are quieter, to get ahead of the curve.

Do I Need To Be MCS Registered To Install Heat Pumps? 03/08/2022

Do you need to be MCS registered to certify heat pumps? Technically, yes, but there is the option of joining an MCS Umbrella Scheme, where a manufcaturer or heat pump contractor does this MCS bit for you.

They supply the kit, specify the scheme and certify the works under MCS. You still need heat pump training, but this is a great option for installers just starting out and/or testing the potential market in their area.

Companies offering this include Grant, Viessman, Alto Energy, Kensa Heat Pumps and Natural Energy Solutions. Find out more in our blog:
