On this VE Day we give thanks for all the men and women who served in the NFS during WW2, without their dedication and service the blitz would have had a very different outcome.

1941 Austin k2 Fire Engine, vehicle registration: GGN 676. A little bit about a Trust. We are Luton based.
We have an Austin K2 Fire Engine (Reg GGN 676) with Pump, All in working order. Our Trust is formed by 6 committee Members and Thankfully a Great group of Volunteers. We try to attend 85% of shows/events in Luton and surrounding areas. We also visit many Infant schools and pre-schools to educate children on how the fire engine was used in WW2. Today one of our trustees and one of our volunteers had a trip to The Norfolk Fire Museum which is located in Great Yarmouth shopping centre, there is so much fire related stuff in a small place, well worth a visit if you are in the area at any point. A great section of NFS stuff including a lovely original NFS flag. They mainly open on a Wednesday so do check before you go so you don’t get disappointed.

Today is VJ Day and we think of everyone involved in WW2, what a marvellous day of celebration and sadness all at the same time it must have been. We are so grateful for everyone that served both at home and abroad so that we could live our live’s today and we remember all of those that paid the ultimate sacrifice for us.

We are saddened to hear the devastating news in Oxfordshire, our thoughts are with the families of the two fireman that have lost their lives.
We are devastated to learn of the loss of two firefighters and a member of the public during an incident in Bicester, Oxfordshire yesterday.
Our thoughts are with all those involved, and their family, friends and colleagues, and everyone at Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Flags will be flown at half-mast across our Service as a sign of respect for our fallen firefighters.
Today we remember all that gave their lives for our future during world war 2 as we come to the 80th celebration of VE day. We are especially thankful to all the AFS and NFS that served during the Second World War.
