Assessment day in Brighton, and a very warm welcome from a home that knows what good care looks like.

This is the part of the programme we like best. Our learners are assessed in the care setting where they actually work, across health and safety, personal care and medication administration, so the qualification reflects real practice rather than a classroom performance. We also spent time with the home's manager, whose team took home a national UK Caring Award for end of life care. Her explanation of how they built that team came down to three things: recruiting the right people, value based training, and holding on to good staff once you have them.

The India Young Professional Scheme ballot opens this July, and entering is completely free. Eligible Indian citizens can apply for a 2-year UK visa to live and work in the UK.

Athira started as a healthcare assistant in the UK. A friend recommended Welfare Academy, she enrolled on the NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care, and she now holds a senior carer visa and is working in the role.
