🧸💗 Realistic play, real-life learning!

Our 2–3 year olds have been exploring caring for babies through realistic doll play — from bath time and nappy changes to cuddles and comforting. 🛁👶🏼

Realistic play helps children make sense of the world around them while developing:
✨ Imaginative & pretend play– recreating familiar experiences and exploring different roles
🧠 Cognitive development– building understanding of everyday routines and cause & effect
🗣️ Language & communication– encouraging new vocabulary and conversations through play
🤲 Fine motor skills– practising movements such as fastening, changing and dressing
💗 Social & emotional development– developing empathy, nurturing skills and an understanding of emotions
🌱 Independence & confidence– giving children opportunities to practise everyday experiences in a safe environment

At 2–3 years, children learn so much through hands-on, meaningful experiences— and sometimes the simplest play opportunities support the biggest learning. 💕

Watching children grow in confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. 💚

Every child develops at their own pace, and this video is a lovely example of that. Some children are confidently climbing and sliding independently, while others are taking their time, building confidence with a helping hand and plenty of encouragement.

Our low numbers allow us to provide meaningful one-to-one support, giving staff the time to respond to each child's individual needs, interests and stage of development. This enables us to create opportunities that support every aspect of a child's development physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively— helping them to thrive in a way that's right for them.

It's not about who gets to the top first; it's about celebrating every achievement, big or small. 🌿✨

There's so much more to art than creating a finished masterpiece. For our babies, the real magic happens in the process. 💛

Messy play provides opportunities to explore new textures, colours and materials while supporting sensory development, fine and gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination and early creativity. Every splash, smear and mark is helping to build confidence, curiosity and independence.

Sometimes the messiest moments create the biggest learning opportunities. 🌈🖌️💚

🦖❄️ Dinosaur Sensory Adventure!❄️🦖

This exciting sensory experience encouraged children to explore different textures, temperatures and materials as they rescued the dinosaurs from the ice and squelched their way through the chia slime. The open-ended play sparked imagination, curiosity and lots of conversation as the children created their own prehistoric adventures.

💚 Learning opportunities included:
🦕 Developing imaginative and small world play.
✋ Strengthening fine motor skills while grasping, scooping and rescuing the dinosaurs.
🧪 Exploring early STEM concepts by observing how ice melts and changes state.
🌡️ Investigating different textures and temperatures through sensory exploration.
💬 Building language and communication skills by describing what they could see, feel and discover.
🤝 Encouraging turn-taking, collaboration and problem-solving during play.
