Congratulations to David Martin, South Lurgan Community Forum Secretary on receiving the MBE for his work within the community.
The South Lurgan Community Forum is a collective of people representing a number of local organisations who have a passion for their community.
Operating as usual
Congratulations to David Martin, South Lurgan Community Forum Secretary on receiving the MBE for his work within the community.
For far too long the narrative of the troubles has been one sided with a rewriting of our history. Our community suffered greatly throughout that period with many families still dealing with empty chairs at their table and its time the truth be heard through the myriad of republican lies.
You are invited to this talk in Brownlow House on 17th April starting at 7.30pm followed by tea and coffee.
This is a free event.
'If walls could talk' featuring the jewel in the Lurgan crown can be watched on BBC iPlayer. Fantastic to see and hear stories of βthe Castleβ past, present and plans for the future.

Well done to the Avenue Road Residents Committee. South Lurgan has not had much to cheer about in recent years, and it is great to see these projects coming to fruition ππ
We are pleased with the rapid progress on the Carrick Drive green space project. This has been a long-term committee initiative, and we are gratified to see its completion nearing.
This area has been neglected for an extended period, resulting in a persistent accumulation of dog waste. We hope everyone will agree that it will be a more welcoming feature of the Avenue Road Estate.
An inspection of the estate will take place in the next few months. This inspection will include all statutory agencies responsible for various aspects of the area. If you have any issue you would like raised please send us a private message.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have supported this project, including Councillor Peter Haire, Councillor Stephen Moutray, and Don, for all the hours he puts into the floral displays that brighten up the area.

Over the weekend the South Lurgan Community Forum had been in contact with the PSNI over the details surrounding todays meeting in Mourneview Community Centre.
This is a PCSP meeting which are usually held in Lurgan Town Hall in the evenings and are open to all to attend, but to ensure engagement with some of the more senior and vulnerable members of the community who may not make it out in the evenings they have decided to run two afternoon sessions this time around with todays meeting in South Lurgan and tomorrows meeting in North Lurgan.
The next in our series of Community Engagement Meetings are being held within local community shared spaces to give our local residents an opportunity to attend.
Todayβs meeting will be focusing Crime Prevention with PCSPs crime prevention officer in attendance to offer advice and support.
Anyone with any information please PM our FB page, contact the PSNI or a local Community Rep.
If anyone has any information please get in touch.
The South Lurgan Community Forum wish to place on record our unwavering support and thanks to David Martin for his service to the community at large. David is a man of principle, integrity, good character and honesty something that canβt be said about those that have chosen to attack him over this past week.
David made mistakes as a young man many years ago, he paid the price, served his sentence, repented of his ways and never once looked back. David has never shied away from his past and neither has he ever glorified it in any way, David uses the story of his past and his faith to inform others there is a real alternative. He is passionate about his community and this is shown in the hours he puts in to serve those within that community. Receiving his MBE was rightful recognition of that work and passion.
Unionists who are working towards a shared future for all are being held to different standards by the media than those who refuse to acknowledge the hurt they caused our society.
Great insight into the history of our town mascot 'Master McGrath' by the pupils of Lurgan Junior High School. Well done to all those involved.
