This August, we will proudly be unveiling our reimagined House system.
New names inspired by the rich history of our school and community.
New colours that honour the palette of our school’s identity.
New logos rooted in the elements and symbolism of our school badge.
Same competitive spirit, pride and unity.
Our full launch video premieres this August; honouring our past and welcoming a new era.

It was great to see so many of our pupils who play for Lurgan Town U13 & U15 Girls’ teams being recognised and rewarded for their hard work, effort, and dedication this season at a civic reception in Craigavon Civic Centre!
The U13s were Mid Ulster Youth League Premiership Champions and Blackpool Cup Winners.
Whilst the U15s were the Mid Ulster Youth League Championship Winners.
Congratulations to all of our pupils, their fellow teammates and their coaches.

A sincere thank you to Constable Wallace and our Local Neighbourhood Policing Team (LNPT) – key partners in supporting our pupils, school and wider community.
The team plays an important role in our preventative curriculum, delivering impactful workshops on substance misuse, internet safety, and the “One Punch Kills” campaign. Their input helps equip our young people with the knowledge and awareness they need to make safe, informed choices.
We’re incredibly grateful not only for their contributions in the classroom, but also for their ongoing support in helping to keep our pupils, campus, and local community safe.

A huge thank you to Andy and the team at Lurgan Youth Annexe – another key community partner who support many of our pupils during term-time evenings.
Based within the Lurgan Junior High School grounds, the Annexe offers a safe, welcoming space for young people aged 8–25 to develop emotionally, socially and personally outside of the school setting. With fantastic facilities, including games stations, group rooms, and a kitchen for cooking activities, it’s a place where young people can build confidence, resilience, and strong peer relationships – and most importantly, have fun.
All staff are fully trained in youth work, and their work makes a real difference to the lives of the young people who attend.

A big thank you to Tara from Links Counselling Service – one of our valued external partners who provide essential mental health support to our pupils.
Links exists to make professional counselling accessible to everyone in the community, offering a safe and confidential space for our pupils. Tara’s support has ensured that our pupils do not have to face life’s challenges alone.
We are incredibly grateful for the care and expertise they bring to our school community.

A heartfelt thank you to Mark, his team and all at Aspire NI, another one of our key external agencies making a real difference in the lives of our pupils.
Aspire NI is working to close the educational attainment gap for children living in poverty across Northern Ireland – a number that has sadly risen to over 103,000 young people.
Through their incredible Aspire Sessions on a Wednesday afternoon from 3.20pm - 4.30pm, Aspire Academy, and Camp Aspire, they provide completely free academic and personal development support to young people who need it most. Their work empowers our pupils to believe in their potential and thrive in both school and life.
You can support Aspire NI by praying for the young people and staff involved, donating to help continue their free services or volunteering your time to be part of the change.

A huge thank you to one of our key external partners, REACH Mentoring. We want to specifically thank our REACH Connect workers Danielle and Anna, as well as James and his team who have consistently gone above and beyond to support our pupils this year.
REACH creates a safe and trusted space where young people meet daily or weekly with a trained mentor to build confidence and set goals for the future. Whether it’s self-worth, anxiety or life circumstances, REACH is there to journey alongside our pupils every step of the way.
Their relational approach, coupled with close collaboration with our school Pastoral Team, makes a real and lasting difference in the lives of our young people.
You can support REACH in their vital work by praying for the young people and mentors involved, donating to help sustain their impact or volunteering your time as a mentor.

The third edition of the Greyhound Gazette is here.
Term 3 has been packed with achievements, celebrations, and memorable moments — and we’ve captured it all in the latest edition of the Greyhound Gazette.
Now live on the home page of our school website ljhs.co.uk
We hope you enjoy reading about everything our pupils and community have accomplished this term.

Congratulations to former pupil Oscar B, on his remarkable achievement.
Oscar has become the youngest person ever to complete the North Channel swim from Bangor to Scotland.
Over 16 hours of continuous swimming, Oscar demonstrated extraordinary resilience as he battled the elements in some of the world’s toughest open water conditions.
Oscar’s determination and quiet strength are an inspiration to all of us at Lurgan Junior High School.
We are proud of you Oscar, not only for making history and setting such a powerful example for our school community and Lurgan, but for your dedication and perseverance.
