An unbeaten season continues in Lurgan JHS with all 3 football teams winning their Mid Ulster Cup Quarter Finals just before Christmas! The U12s defeated Integrated College Dungannon 8-1 with goals from Jayden F x4, Cody G x2, Alex F and Ollie G. The U13s beat St Pats Academy 4-0 with goals from Jayden F x2 and Corey H x2. The most nervous game was the U14 one, where Lurgan came from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 (Bailey M, Tyler B and Andrew D) to bring it to penalties. Goalkeeper Patryk J was the hero making 2 saves in a 4-2 win!

Lurgan JHS is looking forward to welcoming all prospective Year 8 pupils and their parents, to its Open Evening on Thursday 11th January, 2024.

As a school in the heart of its local community, we continue to enjoy partnerships with ABC Council in the hire of our flood-lit sports’ facilities, including on Thursday evenings. Therefore, in light of this, school would draw your attention to the following parking arrangements, should walking to school not be a viable option for you on Thursday evening:

Parking for prospective parents will be via the front gate of school located on Toberhewny Lane Lower. Here, parents will be able to park in the main car park at the front of school.
Additional parking can be accessed in our Year 8 playground, via our Mourne Road entrance.
Overflow car parking may be available in the Year 9 and Year 10 playgrounds accessed via the entrance on Millennium Way.
Staff will be on site to direct you and help you.

Thank you to all our pupils who brought in cranberry sauce, mince pies or stuffing. Dixie and Ben from Emmanuel called to school to collect our contribution and 10A10 pupils were most helpful in getting it all sorted and packed.

Last week, we held our Year 8 elections for our Student Council, The Pupils' Voice. All of our Year 8 pupils who put themselves forward as candidates did themselves proud with their speeches and we are very proud of them for having the courage to stand up and address their peers. Congratulations to the four successful candidates - Hannah D, Lily H, Isaac McC and Hollie B.
A massive thank you to our TPV members who ran the election event. They did an amazing job of ensuring that everything ran like clockwork demonstrating great leadership skills and a high level of professionalism throughout. Special thanks, too, must go to our sound and tech support prefects, Matthew Leathem and Kurt Hull.
