Today, we are celebrating our wonderful Leavers of 2026. As they prepare to head off to a range of senior schools across the country, we find ourselves reflecting on just what makes a Moor Park child.

A Director of Admissions at one of the country's most prestigious senior schools once told us, "You can always spot a Moor Park child.” We think we know why...

It is the quiet confidence they exude, the academic curiosity that they possess, the resilience they demonstrate and the creativity that pours into everything they do. It is their willingness to have a go, to ask questions, to think independently and to embrace every opportunity that comes their way.

And what a year these 20 pupils have had. Between them, our Leavers of 2026 have been awarded an incredible 14 scholarships to senior schools across the country, alongside achieving some exceptional Common Entrance results. These are achievements of which they should be immensely proud.

But while the results, scholarships and destinations are wonderful achievements, what makes us proudest is the young people they have become.

We have watched them grow, learn, laugh, overcome challenges, discover their passions and develop into confident, capable and compassionate young people. They leave us ready for the next adventure, carrying with them the friendships, memories, values and experiences that have shaped their Moor Park journey.

We could not be prouder of every one of you.

To the Class of 2026: thank you for everything you have given to Moor Park. You will be very much missed, but we cannot wait to see all that you go on to achieve.

Go out into the world with confidence, curiosity and courage. Your next chapter awaits.💚💛

As the UK swelters in the current heatwave, many of us are seeking out shade, cooler corners and any excuse to escape the sunshine! It has got us reminiscing about some much cooler Forest School days at Moor Park last term…

From making nettle tea, searching for wildlife in streams (they found lots of freshwater shrimps!) making survival stretchers, using natural materials to explore methods of filtration, as well as getting creative with leaf patterns using natural paints and colours and the very competitive snail races — there was never a dull moment.

Forest School is such an important part of life at Moor Park. It gives our pupils the opportunity to step outside the classroom and 'learn by doing'. They can take the knowledge and skills they develop in lessons and apply them in a completely different environment, building confidence, resilience, teamwork, creativity and independence along the way.

Being outdoors also gives children the chance to take risks in a safe and supported way, develop a deeper appreciation of the natural world, and enjoy the physical and mental wellbeing benefits that come from spending time outside.

The Forest School at Moor Park is set within our 85 acres of beautiful school grounds, their is a woodland classroom, outdoor theatre, fire pit area, and flowing streams and nature in abundance. What an extraordinary classroom for our pupils' to have on their doorstep to explore, discover and learn in.

So, while we might all be searching for the coolest spot we can find this summer, we're looking back fondly at muddy boots, woodland adventures and plenty of happy memories from Forest School last term!

Sometimes, the best thing we can give children is the freedom to go outside and play.

A recent article by the Guardian titled 'If you want your kids to thrive this summer, don’t just turn off their phones – open your front door, too' explores how children’s worlds have gradually become smaller — not simply because of smartphones, but because we have become increasingly reluctant to let children roam, explore and play independently.

The article makes a powerful point: taking away the phone isn’t enough. We also need to open the front door.

At Moor Park, we believe children need space to be children. During break-times, our pupils have the freedom to decide what they want to play, where they want to explore and who they want to play with, all within 85 acres of safe, green space.

Mobile phones aren’t permitted at school, including in our senior section, but perhaps most importantly, our children have so much to do outside their own ‘school front door’ that they simply don’t need them.

And right now, our summer school camps are bringing the grounds alive once again. It is wonderful to see children running, creating, discovering, learning and playing together, enjoying the outdoors and each other’s company without a screen in sight. Because childhood doesn’t need to be constantly organised, supervised or plugged in. Sometimes, children just need space, freedom, fresh air and the opportunity to play.

This weekend our Moor Park boarders headed to West Midlands Safari Park for an unforgettable afternoon of incredible animals and thrilling rides!

The safari park is always a firm favourite, and it’s easy to see why. From spotting amazing wildlife to enjoying the fun of the park, our boarders had the most wonderful time.

And that’s just ONE of the brilliant activities our boarders get to enjoy! Think trampoline parks, paintballing, pizza nights out, adventure trails and so much more.

At Moor Park, boarding isn’t just somewhere to sleep, it’s a whole experience. With full, weekly and flexi options, incredible House Parents and cosy, comfortable dorms, our boarding community truly is one big family. 💚💛

And our famous Big Boarding Weeks are a phenomenon of their own. So popular amongst our day pupils that we see up to 100 extra beds booked during that week alone.

Last Saturday, Moor Park came alive for our annual Sports Day — one of the true highlights of the school year.

The morning kicked off with our Prep School sports, followed by the Pre-Prep, before families spread out across the grounds to picnic in the sunshine.

Then came the moment we all look forward to - the Moor Park Summer Fete, opened as tradition dictates by our longest-serving family. This year the father of our Head Girl, who has been part of the Moor Park family for an incredible 13 years after starting in Tick Tock, did the honours.

From there, the afternoon was pure joy. Families enjoyed Hook a Duck, Splat the Rat, the always-thrilling Pole Jousting, and the fiercely contested Moor Park Dog Show 🐾 — and if that wasn’t enough, a hot air balloon treated guests to short rides over the grounds! 🎈
With the sun shining, laughter filling the air, and the whole school community together — there really was no better place to be.

Big Boarding Week is in full swing and the energy from our boarders has been awesome.
So far this week they have enjoyed:

Monday Night -Silly Olympics had everyone in stitches with non-stop laughter and friendly competition!

Tuesday Night: Water Night brought out the chaos, the screams, and the smiles in equal measure!

Wednesday Night: NERF Night saw epic battles across the school - Ruth is still very diligently fishing Nerf bullets our of their hiding places in the Front Hall...

With nearly 100 extra beds booked this week the numbers speak for themselves, Moor Park pupils absolutely LOVE Big Boarding Week, and it's easy to see why!

And there's still more to come before the week is out. A huge thank you to our brilliant boarding team for making every night so special. This is what Moor Park is all about, community, fun, and memories that last a lifetime.

Last Friday our Reception class enjoyed a trip to the Small Breeds Farm in Kington.

The morning brought a wonderful array of creature encounters. The children showing their kindness as they gently stroked a fluffy chick, cradled the rather charming Poppy the guinea pig, and made the acquaintance of Tilly the turtle (who they felt would get along famously with our very own Terry the Terrapin).

The children were lucky enough to see a collection of owls from across the world, although some were easier to find than others. One magnificent owl delighted the class with it's striking resemblance to none other than Hedwig from Harry Potter!

The sun made an appearance in the afternoon and the class enjoyed a leisurely stroll to meet the outdoor residents.
Our pupils again showed their kind and gentle nature, remembering to feed the sheep and goats with flat hands, who they found out have surprisingly tickly tongues! The goats were an absolute delight, if rather too fond of the children's clothing and thought it looked rather tasty!

A memorable day was had by all, so much so that not a single sleepyhead was spotted on the journey home. Remarkable! 😄

Year 8 may have finished their Common Entrance, but are they resting on their laurels? Not at Moor Park!

Our Year 8 pupils have wasted no time. This week sees the launch of their Maths Enterprise Project, and the brief is rather a good one.

Each team has been entrusted with £50, generously loaned by the MPPA, and given one week to grow it. Business plans. Marketing strategies. A full sales pitch. The works.

Every penny of profit goes to West Midlands Air Ambulance, a cause as worthy as the endeavour itself. 🚁

The spirit of enterprise is alive and well at Moor Park. We suspect the competition will be fierce, and the ideas rather brilliant.

Moor Park has been soaring with curiosity this week as celebrated National Science Week. Our Pre-Prep Science afternoon reached new heights in rocket launches, both inside and outside the lab! The children created giant, safely controlled fireballs, wizard potions, as well as burning magnesium and much more. Check out the human reactions after the chemical reactions created their magic! 🪄✨

Can water dissolve everything?
Year 2 have been busy harvesting elderflower from the school grounds and making a delicious cordial to share with their parents. Fascinated by the sugar dissolving into the floral solution they then conducted an experiment to find out what was soluble and insoluble!

A brilliant example of the hands-on learning we do at Moor Park, and how every day we really do make the most out of the school grounds to make learning memorable.
