Little Treasures Nursery

What a glorious week it has been so far!!! We have made the most of the sunshine today by using the adventure playground, getting in the sand pit, water painting, large painting and building a shelter incase the dinosaurs come back!!!
At the start of the week we enjoyed sharing our family photos and talking about who was in our family. We then used our little figures to represent our family, talking about who is tallest/biggest, smallest/shortest.
Could all children please bring in a family photo on Monday to share with the class

At the start of the week we have been looking at snails, after reading the story 'the snail and the whale'πŸ‹. We found some pond snails 🐌 at forest schools and compared them to garden snails 🐌 we then made our own snails trails using chalk on black paper. We cut spirals from paper plates they started off looking like snails but ended up looking like snakes 🐍
We also found frogs 🐸 and frogs spawn in our pond (spring is on its way!!! πŸ’ 🌹 🌸 🏡 🌼 )
World book day fun!!! We shared all the stories the children brought in throughout the day. We then explored porridge like in goldilocks and the three bears, created potions and wrote our recipes like in room on the broom, explored paints and mixing them like wow said the owl and even created our own stories and made our own books using story cards!!! A fun filled day!!
We now have spaces available in our Nursery for the summer term and September. Application forms are available from the school office - please call in or email us on [email protected]

Yesterday one of our children asked why his shadow wasn't facing the right way!' It's should be behind me!!' So we drew around his shadow and every so often throughout the day we drew around it again and watched how it moved as the sun moved. We then predicted where we thought his shadow would be by the end of the day. We talked about how people used to use sun dials to tell the time. Then today at forest school we looked at the sundial in the garden and noticed it said the correct time!!! Fascinating stuff!!! Also Mrs Harris lost her shadow but soon found it once she stepped out from the canopy!!!!

When a parent brings in a birds nest to share with the children....that's this week's planning sorted!!! The children were fascinated by where the nest had come from and how it was made. We had a long discussion about it and watched a video on how birds made thier nests. Then at forest school we collected sticks, twigs, leaved and grass and then built our own nests big enough for us to sit in!!! They were so cosy some of us even sat and had our snack in our nests! Then this afternoon a bird was found on the field without a home so we had a look at it and we talked about how we shouldn't normally pick up birds or remove thier nests as it would make them sad! Lots of discussions going on.x

Hope everyone has a wonderful half term. Enjoy the sunshine 🌞

Last week some of the children made a pizza using the play dough and paper, so this week we decided to make actual real pizzas (well pizza parcels!!!) To enjoy for our snack!! This then developed back into thier play where they 'followed' the recipe in the book to make more pizzas outside.

We have a new 'rainbow road'on our nursery playground, created by the children!! It looks beautiful. But will it still be there tomorrow?
The children have been using clipboards and pens in the digging area and we had a home for the 3 little pigs built inside (we had to be quiet though as they were all fast asleep, one on the sofa, one in bed and one on the wall!!!)

🧸 🧸 There will be no stay and play this week (26th). If you know anyone who is thinking of attending could you please pass this message on to them. Sorry for any inconvenience. X 🧸 🧸

We had a wonderful time with Bym this afternoon, playing with his 'rubbish' instruments!!! Not sure what the rest of the school thought of the noise, but we loved it!!!!

Photos from Little Treasures Nursery's post 23/03/2023

This morning we started our forest schools session looking for signs of spring, (finding daffodils, cowslips, blossom, buds and a nest) we then had to find 6 chicks and 6 eggs hiding in our forest schools area.
Then this afternoon as we only had a small amount of children we went for a walk to homemade to get some seeds for our garden, ready to plant after Easter, aswell as some bird seeds to fill the bird feeders in the forest school area.x

Photos from Little Treasures Nursery's post 22/03/2023

Today we learnt all about the Easter story, and found out that Easter isn't all about the Easter bunny and chocolate eggs!!! We then went on an egg hunt and painted pom poms eggs 🀭 (ok so it's a little bit about the eggs!!!!)

Photos from Little Treasures Nursery's post 21/03/2023

What a wonderful morning we had at the castle. The sun shone for us and we enjoyed exploring the castle grounds. I wonder what your child remembers about our trip?!

Good evening everyone. I spoke to the people at the 🏰 and they said they should be back open again tomorrow. So we should enjoy a nice sunny walk up there tomorrow morning. If you are accompanying your child please bring them in with you at the normal time. We are very excited for this trip!!!!
Please make sure child brings a pair of wellies and waterproof coat as the ground are very muddy up there.x
