Bumble Beez Childminding Sarah Gough - Ofsted registered independent childminder providing a safe and secure setting for chil My name is Sarah Gough and I am 39 years old.

I have been registered since 2005. I live with my husband and our four wonderful sons aged 18, 16 and 12 years and our youngest son who was born in August 2016. We have an array of pets who are all very child friendly! I offer a welcoming and secure home for children to play, learn and develop at their own pace. The children also have access to our garden where they can play games and explore. All

children in my care are treated with equal concern and I provide stimulating activities for all ages and stages of development. When the weather permits, we like to go for walks, take trips to the park, local woods and the beach. On rainy days we enjoy baking, creative activities and playing games that encourage turn taking and improve socialising. I adhere to Ofsted standards and work in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage guidelines - ensuring that children's learning and development is constantly supported and extended. I can currently drop off and collect from:

This term I have embarked on The Nature Way journey, along with some other lovely educators I know, under the wonderful guidance of Lindsey The Nature Play Centre 🤍

The framework matches my childminding ethos, fits perfectly into my curriculum and style of nature focused play based learning that I offer the children in my care 🍁

I have added some information about the framework with the hope that this post may reach some educators, parents and homeschooling families - who are just as passionate as me about including nature in their children’s lives - to see just how amazing this framework is and join in our journey with us 🫶🏼

🪶🐦‍⬛ BIRD MIGRATION 🐦‍⬛🪶

This week as part of our The Nature Way journey we have been learning about migrating birds - we have made bird feeders, our own binoculars and been on a bird watching (and listening) walk - we discussed bird migration and why birds migrate to a different area in the winter months in search of warmer climates and more abundant food. This sparked questions from two of our older Bumbles about why some birds don’t leave and do other animals migrate? So we touched briefly on hibernation and adaptation also…this will be something we look into in more detail in the coming months 🫶🏼🤍

This little activity was perfect for practicing our scissor skills also - win win 👏🏼

We finally got round to making our beautiful dancers from our September subscription box 🤍
We sound some perfect stems on our walk this morning so today was the day…
Such fun to make, although the process worked my Bumbles 🐝 hard as they were quite fiddly at times! But they did it, with very little help from me.
One of my little ones commented on how pretty they looked when she blew the tissue paper 🫶🏼
Obviously I had to make one too 🥰

💫🍁 AUTUMN MATHEMATICS INVITATION 🍁💫

Sometimes I feel maths can be overlooked a little - mainly because practitioners think it’s difficult to teach…I was guilty of this! However, in the early years, maths is all about building a basic understanding through play, real-life experiences, and simple activities and this set up sparked LOTS of number recognition, counting, understanding the concept of ‘more’ and ‘less’ and comparing sizes - probably a lot more too! This will be recreated again next week as repetition is key 👏🏼

I mean who doesn’t love a pancake day in the autumn 🍂
I recently discovered that 🥞 is observed in the United States in September, simply as a joyful celebration of a favourite food 🫶🏼 and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to discuss healthy food and making good food choices with the Bumbles 🐝 as well as enjoying a little treat for our morning snack!

This lead to a lovely little pancake craft to follow…

We celebrated the over a couple of days this week with different Bumbles 🐝 getting involved in this beautiful piece…this was definitely a process over product initially however the older children asked to add some leaves that we had collected and I think it turned out great 😍🍂🍁
