The college will also be offering six new T Level courses from September 2022 combining in classroom learning with an extended work placement. Our well-established maritime and offshore department offers specialist courses and training opportunities which attract students from around the world. Start your career in rail engineering.

Our Fast Track to Rail Engineering – Track Maintenance course is starting soon, offering a 12-week route into a career in the rail industry.

You’ll gain essential industry training and qualifications, including PTS, Sentinel Card, Track Induction, First Aid, Manual Handling and an NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Rail Engineering Track Maintenance.

The course may be free for eligible learners who are unemployed or self-employed and not currently working in the sector.

Last week, we attended Ormiston Venture Year 6 transition days. 🏫

These days were to encourage making new friends and to ease any anxieties. They took part in team-building sessions, built a structure from spaghetti and marshmallows, made each other bag charms to encourage new conversations, and made positivity shields.

They had fun looking for clues and working together in Science and Library-themed Escape rooms. They finished the day with a scavenger hunt around the school to help them become more familiar with their surroundings.

Another fantastic Assessment Day was delivered in partnership with Proserv as we welcomed prospective apprentices to take part in the recruitment process. 👷‍♂️

Throughout the process, candidates completed a range of activities and interviews, demonstrating their skills, ambition and potential. We've helped shape the apprenticeship programme that supports both the growth of the business and future skills requirements, ensuring apprentices develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to thrive in industry.

A huge thank you to the team at Proserv for their involvement on the day, their partnership and commitment to apprenticeships and best of luck to all candidates as they progress through the next stage of the process.

Huge congratulations to Freya Moore for achieving a grade 4 in Maths.

Freya, who previously studied at Sir John Leman, said: “I am surprised and relieved to have passed, very happy with my results.” Freya now plans to continue studying with the college to finish her Level 3 course in Hairdressing.
