WHAT IS KOBUJUTSU. It’s a Japanese term meaning “Ancient Weapon Arts”referring to traditional Japanese and Okinawan systems for using classical weapons,often developed for samurai or peasant self defence during periods when swords were banned,emphasising practical combat skills from the feudal era. Benefits of training Kobujutsu. Of course,there’s the physical,regular practice builds strength,flexibility,balance and cardiovascular endurance,while also enhancing coordination and body awareness. But of equal importance are the mental benefits,training with weapons requires even more focus, discipline,and self control than unarmed practice as handling weapons safely demands constant awareness and these are things that can enhance your life off the mat,helping to manage stress,improve concentration, and build confidence. And it doesn’t stop there,training in a respectful environment teaches humility,patience,and respect for others, and this promotes emotional and social growth. What to expect. The class emphasis self-discipline through weapons practice,most of this is achieved via the practice of set forms which are performed either solo or with a partner.
