🏹 Forest of Dean Archery Champions! 🏹

We recently gave two teams of Key Stage Two children the opportunity to take part in an archery event at Viney Hill. One team attending on Tuesday 28th April and the second on Tuesday 5th May.

Both teams represented Soudley brilliantly, showing fantastic focus, teamwork and determination throughout the competition. Our first team achieved a fantastic score of 51 points, while our second team scored an incredible 75 points, placing 1st out of 24 schools across the district and becoming the overall winners of the Forest of Dean archery competition! 🥇

The children who attended the second session have received medals, and a trophy will soon be arriving at school, this is a wonderful achievement for the whole school community. We are incredibly proud of all the children who took part.

A special mention also goes to one of our pupils, who achieved the highest individual score across the entire event (out of 100 children) what a fantastic accomplishment! 🌟

What an incredible afternoon at the netball tournament at Dean Academy in Lydney! 🏐

Our Year 5 and 6 team represented Soudley with pride, determination and fantastic team spirit. Out of 7 teams, they secured an amazing 2nd place, winning 3 games, drawing 2 and narrowly losing just 1 — missing out on the district finals for the third year in a row by the smallest of margins.

We could not be more proud of their effort, resilience and the brilliant sportsmanship they showed throughout the afternoon. Most importantly, it was wonderful to see how much fun they had representing their school as a team and the confidence they gained from attending the event.

A huge thank you to all the parents who came along to support and helped with transport, we truly couldn’t have done it without you.

Well done, team Soudley — you were absolutely fantastic and we are super proud of you! 👏

📢 Reminder: Fun Day – Wednesday 16th July

We’re looking forward to our whole school Fun Day tomorrow! There will be inflatables, outdoor games, and indoor activities for all to enjoy 🎉

🔹 Children can wear non-school uniform, but please plan outfits carefully – dresses and skirts are not suitable, and all children must wear socks. With inflatables in use, there is a risk of friction burns, so please bare this in mind when selecting an outfit.

🔹 Lunch will run as normal – no changes to school meals or packed lunches.
🔹 Usual behaviour expectations apply – we want everyone to have a fun and safe day.

Thank you for your support – we can’t wait for a day full of fun and smiles!

Fun Day – Wednesday 16th July

We’re excited to let you know that next Wednesday, 16th July, we’ll be holding a Fun Day in school for all the children – a chance to celebrate a fantastic year together!

Throughout the day, there will be a brilliant range of activities for the children to enjoy, including large inflatables, indoor activities, and outdoor games. It promises to be a fun-filled day, and we’re sure the children will love every minute!

Children are welcome to come in non-school uniform, but we do ask that you carefully consider their outfit choices. As they'll be using inflatables, we want to avoid any friction burns – so dresses and skirts aren't appropriate, and socks must be worn by all children. Trainers or closed shoes are also recommended for outdoor play.

Lunch arrangements will remain the same – school meals and packed lunches will run as normal.

While the focus is on fun, our usual behaviour expectations still apply – we want everyone to have a safe, enjoyable day, and positive behaviour is a big part of that.

We’re really looking forward to a joyful day of smiles, laughter and celebration!

🫟🎨🎨A quick reminder that tomorrow afternoon is the colour run. 🎨🎨🫟

Children can come into school wearing the clothing that they will wear for the run. White/light top that you’re happy to get paint on. Please no vest tops to ensure shoulders are covered as it’s forecast to be hot.

Return any sponsor forms and money collected.

Parents are welcome to join us on the field from 14:10 (run starts at 14:15) for the colour run and free family BBQ.

Thank you to FOSS for organising such an exciting day for the children and raising vital funds for our school.
