The sheep have officially moved onto their next turnip field and they’ve already escaped twice 🐑

Jess appreciation post 🐶

Jess is a four year old Collie. She works best with humans close by and her strengths lie in managing smaller herds. She is the farm’s little rescue worker - if a sheep gets stuck in a ditch or tangled in a hedge, Jess helps find them and get them moving again.

She does most of the hard graft in the fields and is arguably the most efficient staff member.

It’s been a busy week in sunny Wolverhampton ☀️

We’ve been hard at work building our new shed for the check-in desk, plus putting up marquees ready for the picnic area and our small animals. Everything is coming together to make the farm even more welcoming for your visits.

We can’t wait for you to see the progress and enjoy these new spaces with us soon!

MEET THE TEAM

Spencer has grown up surrounded by animals, from horses to tarantulas, and has always had a huge love for them. Since joining the team in January, he’s been rearing calves, learning to drive the loadall, and keeping the Tiddly Tales animals happy and healthy. Spencer trained as an actor in Liverpool, graduating with a first-class honours degree from LIPA, and now works in the industry, including teaching acting to under 18s and starring in films. If you’ve met him, you’ll know he’s always infectiously enthusiastic (even at 6am).

MEET THE TEAM

Ben joined us back in September as part of his college work experience and quickly proved he was here to stay - progressing into a permanent role on the farm. Since then, he’s learnt a huge amount and is now a key part of the team. You’ll usually find him behind the wheel, as he does most of the machinery driving (even if he did once put a pallet tine through the JCB tyre). Ben can now tackle all the manual jobs independently - from injections (when he doesn’t accidentally inject himself) to confidently driving the feeder wagon. Great progress and a proper farm all-rounder in the making!

MEET THE TEAM

Erin joined the farm team in September and plays a key role in caring for the young stock. She is responsible for managing the calves’ medication and vaccination programme, ensuring their health needs are met accurately and on time. Alongside this, Erin helps with day-to-day calf care, including feeding and maintaining clean bedding, and supports veterinary treatments when needed. She regularly attends to all the animals on the farm, including the sheep, to make sure they are healthy and well cared for. Erin also assists with office duties and paperwork, and her training in emergency first aid at work means she is able to respond quickly and confidently in urgent situations.

Well… that’s 57 calves weaned off milk and ready to move into the big shed!

Erin and Ben have been working hard to get their new home ready. Only one (human) ankle was broken in the process.
