FREE SCHOOL VISITS TO TIDDLY TALES

We’re able to offer these visits through the Capital Grants VED1: Educational Access Visits scheme, which supports farms in providing educational opportunities for children and young people to learn about farming, food production and the countryside.

The visits give children the opportunity to get outside, learn about a working farm and experience animals and farming first-hand.

Visits can include:

* Meeting our cattle and calves
* Getting up close with our sheep and goats
* Meeting the horses and ponies
* Finding out what happens on a working farm
* Exploring where our food comes from
* Learning about the countryside and wildlife
* Age-appropriate, hands-on activities

Visits can be adapted to suit different ages and educational needs.

There is no charge for eligible school visits through the scheme.

We’re particularly keen to hear from local primary schools, SEND settings and other educational settings who would like to make use of this opportunity.

If you’re a teacher, SENDCO or member of school staff and would like to find out more, please send us a message or email [email protected]

EXCITING UPDATE

Educational Access Visits at Tiddly Tales

We’re looking to welcome schools and educational groups to Tiddly Tales for educational access visits, giving children the opportunity to experience a working farm and learn about farming, animals, food production and the countryside.

Visits will be hands-on and focused on learning outside the classroom, with opportunities to:

• Meet and learn about our livestock
• Learn about animal care and welfare
• See how a working farm operates throughout the seasons
• Learn where food comes from and how it is produced
• Explore the countryside and the natural environment
• Learn about different types of farming and the role farming plays in looking after the land
• Take part in practical, age-appropriate farm activities

We’re keen to work with schools and educational settings to make visits relevant to their curriculum and the needs of their pupils.

We can also accommodate groups who may benefit from a more practical and outdoor approach to learning, including SEND and alternative provision settings.

If you’re a school or educational setting interested in arranging an educational access visit, get in touch with us to discuss your group and what you’d like the children to get from their visit.

We can’t wait to open Tiddly Tales to you all!

Until then, we’re keeping ourselves busy making hay while the sun shines and getting everything ready behind the scenes.

Not long now… we can’t wait to welcome you! 🌾🚜

The sheep have officially moved onto their next turnip field and they’ve already escaped twice 🐑

Safe to say they’re loving the sunshine a little too much.

Jess appreciation post 🐶

Jess is a four year old Collie. She works best with humans close by and her strengths lie in managing smaller herds. She is the farm’s little rescue worker - if a sheep gets stuck in a ditch or tangled in a hedge, Jess helps find them and get them moving again.

She does most of the hard graft in the fields and is arguably the most efficient staff member.

It’s been a busy week in sunny Wolverhampton ☀️

We’ve been hard at work building our new shed for the check-in desk, plus putting up marquees ready for the picnic area and our small animals. Everything is coming together to make the farm even more welcoming for your visits.

We can’t wait for you to see the progress and enjoy these new spaces with us soon!

MEET THE TEAM

Spencer has grown up surrounded by animals, from horses to tarantulas, and has always had a huge love for them. Since joining the team in January, he’s been rearing calves, learning to drive the loadall, and keeping the Tiddly Tales animals happy and healthy. Spencer trained as an actor in Liverpool, graduating with a first-class honours degree from LIPA, and now works in the industry, including teaching acting to under 18s and starring in films. If you’ve met him, you’ll know he’s always infectiously enthusiastic (even at 6am).

MEET THE TEAM

Ben joined us back in September as part of his college work experience and quickly proved he was here to stay - progressing into a permanent role on the farm. Since then, he’s learnt a huge amount and is now a key part of the team. You’ll usually find him behind the wheel, as he does most of the machinery driving (even if he did once put a pallet tine through the JCB tyre). Ben can now tackle all the manual jobs independently - from injections (when he doesn’t accidentally inject himself) to confidently driving the feeder wagon. Great progress and a proper farm all-rounder in the making!
