On 12 August 2026, the Moon will pass in front of the Sun, creating a spectacular partial solar eclipse visible from the UK. 🌙✨

Have you seen our bunting on the trail?

During the final few weeks of term, our Year 8 students explored the creative technique of shaving foam marbling to create beautifully patterned fabrics, which were then transformed into our vibrant bunting display.

At Somercotes, our Art, Craft and Design curriculum encourages students to experiment with a wide range of materials and techniques, including those traditionally used within the textile industry. Projects like this allow our students to develop their creativity while applying their learning in meaningful ways.
Community is one of the core values of our academy, and we are proud to support local events that bring people together and celebrate creativity. It has been a pleasure for our students to contribute to this wonderful community project.
