Theatretrain Loughton

Theatretrain Loughton Professional Performing Arts training for 4-18 year olds. Held every Saturday during term time! We are a part time & weekend Stage School for children.

For 25 years we've pioneered an exciting approach to stage and theatre school education in the performing arts for young people aged 6-18. We teach our pupils how to dance, act and sing in performing arts classes at centres throughout the UK and create outstanding opportunities for our pupils to perform on stage in local, regional and famous West End venues. In July 2013 we performed at The O2 and

in 2016 we performed at the Royal Albert Hall! Stage schools bring out the best in students, builds confidence and gives aspiring young performers opportunities of a lifetime. Contact Jack if you want to be in our next production!

💙 International Day of Charity 💛

We’re incredibly proud to support Theodora Children’s Charity and the wonderful work of their Giggle Doctors, who bring laughter, joy and precious moments of happiness to children in hospitals across the UK.

Some years ago, the Theatretrain family came together to record our charity single ‘Somewhere’, helping to raise funds for this very special charity.
To date, we’re incredibly proud to have raised over £110,992 for Theodora Children’s Charity. 💙

To mark International Day of Charity, we’re sharing a little snippet of Somewhere being performed — a lovely reminder of what can happen when our Theatretrain community comes together for something that really matters.

Only one week until Theatretrain Loughton returns! 💙

From Saturday 12 September, our students will be back together every Saturday from 10am–1pm for acting, singing and dance.

It is a place to build confidence, develop performance skills, make friends and become part of a supportive company. No previous experience is needed and free taster sessions are available for new students aged 4–18.

Dance is shaped by the space around the movement. 💃

This month, students will work on travelling with purpose, maintaining spacing, recognising pathways and understanding how formations help the audience know where to look.

Using the space effectively makes choreography clearer, safer and much more exciting to watch.

Every performer has an important part to play. 🎭

Whether they’re rehearsing a scene, learning a song or putting together a dance, children learn to listen, cooperate, support one another and work towards a shared goal.

The performance may last a few minutes — but the teamwork skills can stay with them for years. 🌟

Confidence Can Start With One Small Brave Moment

Confidence isn't always the child who walks into the room making the most noise.
Sometimes it's the child who finally puts their hand up.

The child who volunteers to go first.
The child who stops worrying about getting it wrong.
Or the child who stands on stage and suddenly realises...
"I can do this."

That's one of the things we love most about performing arts.
The applause is lovely.
But what happens to a young person's belief in themselves along the way is even better. 💙💛

Every entrance is a performance choice. 🎭

In drama, students will explore what their character wants before they enter, what has just happened offstage and how pace, posture, focus and energy can immediately establish a scene.

A confident entrance does not need to be loud. It needs to be clear, purposeful and connected to the story.

This September, our monthly artistic focus is entering and using the space effectively. 🎭

Before a performer says a line, sings a note or begins a routine, the way they enter already tells the audience something.

Across acting, singing and dance, our students will explore purposeful entrances, confident posture, pathways, levels, awareness of others and how to use the whole room rather than disappearing at the edges.

We return on Saturday 12 September, with classes every Saturday from 10am–1pm.

A new term begins with a room full of possibilities. 💙

New friendships. New skills. New challenges. New moments of confidence.

We cannot wait to welcome our returning students and meet the families joining Theatretrain Loughton for the first time this September.

Whatever each child’s starting point, we will be there to encourage their progress and celebrate what they achieve as part of the company.

Here’s to the next chapter.

💙 Every story helps us understand.

When young people explore different characters, emotions and experiences, they begin to see the world from another person’s point of view.

Performing arts encourages children to listen, notice how others may be feeling and respond with kindness and compassion. It helps them build stronger friendships, become more thoughtful and understand that everyone has a story worth hearing. 🌟
